Less than a month until Christmas so I think it safe to get the holiday tunes spinning. Religious or secular, they're all welcome.

Hound+Fox have a deluxe edition of their holiday album out that includes this rendition of the Carol of the Bells. Guesting are the O'Neill Sisters.

And the Mel Torme classic, The Christmas Song featuring Adam Chance of vocal group Home Free.

My contribution is the equivalent of a tacky Christmas sweater. Anyone heard this before?

Santa Baby is one of those silly seasonal tunes that gets some eyes rolling. It's basically framed as a spoiled rich girl writing her Christmas list. It is, of course likely directed more to her husband or lover than Santa. Great Christmas music? Nah. Even though it was written for the great Eartha Kitt, it's basically a novelty song.

However, I would happily listen to Haley Reinhardt sing her grocery list. Lovely voice on a lovely young lady. Here's a laidback version of Santa Baby recorded on an unnamed beach with a simple guitar accompaniment.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without those gnawing mysteries that eat your common sense! Desires explode for the myths ... that's my story!

Pomplamoose getting into the spirit with a nice jazzy arrangement of Here We Come A Carolling.

(Pomplamoose consists of singer Nataly Dawn on vocals, her husband Jack Conte on keyboards, and whoever else they invite along for the ride)

A Campy Christmas song called A Cozy Little Christmas....written and produced by someone I know

Is it wrong that I actually want to see this done as a cheesy half-hour parody of Christmas specials? Brilliant video and the song is perfect.

Parody resembles irony and metaphor as cranked satyrs ... holy donkeys!

These carry light in old traditions ...

Hmmm ....I say - nice arrangement if you don't object to the changing of a traditional set of words. It is Wassailing not carolling! It is a joyful carol and should be sung at a faster tempo.

This one doesn't turn me on at all.

* Shrug * It's not like Pomplamoose changed the words. The song has been sung both ways (carolling and wassailing) in North America at least since I was little. I learned "carolling" first, in fact, IIRC.

Hound + Fox again.

I love this song to no end. Done right, and McKenzie and Reilly definitely get it right, it's surprisingly powerful for what could have been a kids' novelty song.

I wonder if they sit around the living room practicing their harmonies after their son goes to bed. They really sing together well.

Ah yes. I grew up in England and used to go wassailing around the neighbourhood. Never heard the American version until coming to Canada.
