Martin Sloan isn't a household name, but after reading this article, I kind of wish he was. Unable to work due to a disability (severe PTSD from an abusive childhood), he lives on a pittance and became a voice for the poor. Now he's dying, but is going out in a string of tweets that reflect both on dying and on the issues that he has continued to fight for since his diagnosis. Read on.

His Twitter:

It's kind of sad following Mike on Twitter but he does still have a sense of humour about it and his concerns are rather what you'd expect: Who'll take care of his cat (he's found a new human for her) and that sort of thing. And he is still following and commenting on local and national politics, even though he may not even make it to the election. His doctor is now giving him 6-12 weeks and he's been getting his ducks in a row for a possible doctor-assisted suicide.

Critical crisis are beyond those that are into survival at all costs ... and will not give room for future, more, wise souls! They are yet out there ... ahead of us as leaders ... some leaders cannot accept this NU's as essence for absorption ...

Humans seem to be more into destruction than creative abstract ... given our history of bringing things down from peak condition ... toxic fallacy? Ammon must feel well screwed over to let go ... teles armana ... pile of waste as stored in the shadow of sol!

Poorly understood without depth perception ... vis a vis ... eL Vis lives?

It is all in how the word is presented or projected ... in Tutu's and 4'sems ... at least states of chaos! Clearwater revival ... somewhat amber ...

Mike in his own words:

And a recent interview with him from CityTV:

I am not entirely sure why I find Mike Sloan so compelling. Perhaps it's how he seems to maintain his dignity and some degree of normalcy even with the end looming or perhaps it's morbid curiousity. I do know that if I was facing the end so imminently, I hope I could face it as well as he is.

I saw this man on TV the other day. He is certainly going out in style. He's got all his items in his apartment labelled by who will get what after he dies. He's certainly going out well prepared. I was happy to see that he is choosing when he actually dies. He seems to be an excellent candidate for that choice

The clock is ticking. He's off to Ottawa for one of his bucket list trips, but he says things are getting worse. Still spent most of his Twitter time yesterday on the Trudeau brownface story so his political engagement hasn't waned yet.

Strange thought: Could he vote at an advanced poll even if he plans to die before election day? IOW, could a dead person's vote actually end up counting in this case?

I think so. After all, if a race car engine dies but it coasts across the line, that counts.

As long as you are alive enough to use an advanced poll it doesn't matter if you die before the actual election.

I could vote in an advanced poll. If I get hit by a bus crossing the street afterwards elections Canada doesn't worry about the ballot I just cast.

The only time it is a problem is when it could be shown that I was dead before I arrived at the poll to cast a ballot. That kind of thing raises eyebrows.

Except on the dead guy.
The unresponsive character ... as is found in a hateful culture when looking for the God of Cupid ... a stab (arrows/eros) when passing through?

Perhaps he laughed until passing out ... no Ayres?
