I didn't believe in Spiritual demonic entities until I personally experienced one in my home and had an exorcism preformed in my house by a Padre ------then I believed -----cause all activity stopped after he left -----

I too have experienced demons, in my teenage yrs playing with the occult, I was traumatized to the point that my parents took me to the doctors, they thought I had some form of mental illness, It wasn't till I told my grandfather about it and he told me of his testimony of Jesus when he was 19 and in the 2 world war. So I did as my grandfather instructed me and that first night was the first night I slept in peace. as time went on all the demonic activity had gone completely.

as time went on and, I forgot about the experience till I was 40, and born anew, the memories of the past all came back.

Mark 1 (GW)
John Prepares the WayA)'>
1 This is the beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

unsafe says
The coming of John The Baptise is important as he was in God's plan to be the forerunner to prepare the way for the coming Messiah -----
John the Baptise preached on Repentance and Faith in Jesus -------John's Mother Elizabeth was barren ---Taken from Luke 1 and God used her to bare a Son who would be used to prepare the People for the introduction of the coming of Jesus Christ to save the world and fulfil the prophesy of Isaiah ----

unsafe posting here -----

Mark 1 GW
The prophet Isaiah wrote,

“I am sending my messenger ahead of you
to prepare the way for you.”
3 “A voice cries out in the desert:
‘Prepare the way for the Lord!
Make his paths straight!’”

unsafe says ----John's focus was on repentance and Faith in Jesus Christ -----through Water Baptism ------cause that at the time was the way ------now the shedding of Blood from animals was still in place to cover sin water baptism did not cover sin as the Law was still in effect -----understanding what repentance is curtail here -----

Repentance is a mind change ------Greek word -----
3340. metanoeó
Strong's Concordance
metanoeó: to change one's mind

unsafe says
Jesus didn't need His Mind changed so why did Jesus need John to Baptise Him -------answer was in Matthew ----

unsafe posting Matthew 3

Matthew 3:13-17 (GW)
John Baptizes Jesus
13 Then Jesus appeared. He came from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to stop him and said, “I need to be baptized by you. Why are you coming to me?”
15 Jesus answered him, “This is the way it has to be now. This is the proper way to do everything that God requires of us.”

unsafe says ----
After Jesus is Baptised and the Holy Spirit ascends upon Him ----The Holy Spirit directs Him to the wilderness to be Tempted by Satan ----this is very important to Note ----Only After He received the Holy Spirit is He tempted by Satan -------

Why was Jesus tempted by Satan ---this is an important question with an important answer ------If He wasn't tempted He would not know how difficult it is for us to resist Satan's temptation ----

Jesus calls His Disciples and they leave straight way and follow Him ------there is no hesitation noted -----this indicates to me that they trusted Him and their Hearts were not hardened to respond to His Calling -----Many today have their hearts hardened to the real Bible Message -----

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit ----

-unsafe says
-----this is important because it shows that even the demons knew who Jesus was and it shows they had faith in who He was and the influence He had over them -----He was able to destroy them so they were afraid of Him ----

Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

unsafe says ----Early morning prayer is good because our minds and body are rested and it is better to go from Prayer to our day then to go from our day full of cares and worries to prayer ------this is just mu opinion

Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy ------

unsafe says
------this is important because the law was in place and it was a violation of the law to touch a Leper so in my view Jesus was showing His disproval of a Law that was not given by God Himself but God gave to the Israelites because they requested rules so they could follow them which they couldn't keep ------and therefore the Israelites brought on themselves the curse of the Law ----Jesus came to abolish it ------

FYI, in my world, a "daemon" is a program running in the background in a UNIX or Linux system. In the Windows world, we call the same thing a "service". So, technically, Wondercafe2, which is hosted on web server software called Apache on a Linux operating system, is run by daemons. :D

I hoped you would chime in here balckbelt1961 -----

I became Born Again after this episode in my house ---the Padre and his wife took me under their wing ---gave me my first Bible right out of the Church and I never looked back -----but I certainly do believe in evil spirits ---and playing with Ouija boards ---tarot cards etc ------are very dangerous -------

its interesting that John who had never met Jesus knows about a spiritual rebirth of the Holy Spirit

Where is your evidence that John did not know Jesus? Their mothers were cousins, who were together when pregnant, and fetus John "leaped" in the womb to greet the fetus Jesus.

oh demons most definitely do exist, I have seen and experienced, I have also seen the Power of God, the Holy Spirit.

I am not perfect, God knows I'm a sinner, but I know for sure who Jesus is and what He has accomplished

If it is not too personal, blackbelt, could you share what your grandfather instructed you to do?

Ah yes, the God of Cheap Parlour Tricks. Maybe fearful people invite fearful energy into their lives.

I have had visions, and they have been of deep peace, passing understanding; an overwhelming sense of the unity of all - All My Relations; and a wondrous awe and exhilaration. I'm not waiting for a god that scares me into some sort of frightened bs. (translate as belief system, or bulls**t - your choice)

Very interesting to contemplate Jesus, healing and mental illness. Even in today's world, there are some people who equate mental illness with demons.

yes,

when I told my grandfather of my demonic attacks, which took about a yr to get to attacks, it started out with voices, to dreams, to visions and lastly attacks.

anyhow, I told my grandfather who was illiterate, and my grandfather proceeded to tell me of His vision of Jesus at 19 that he had in WW2, and who Jesus was. I was like what does that have to do with what I am telling you now?, so my grandfather said, you are having those dreams because you have no faith in Christ, pray to him before you go to bed, put your faith in Him and all will stop.

so I was like, ok, what do I have to lose, so I prayed that first night and it was peaceful, no activity, I woke up and it was like can it be?, so I began to pray nightly, and all stopped. As the yrs went by and life got in the way I forgot about my past experience and so did my praying.

It wasn't till i was 40, and had a rebirth experience, that i remembered the past and began new experiences with Gods Spirit and some minor demonic which lasted all 2 secs this time.

The idea that our thoughts create our reality is an ancient one. And speaking of mental health (as I was above) this principle forms the basis of present day CBT and DBT.

For anyone who doesn't know the jargon, that's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

yes there is, that is why the RC church is very careful and after much investigation will claim it to be demonic activity or mental disorder,

then you have the con artists on tv or off tv sucking money claiming removal of demons, I have a cousin who does that , shes heavy in the occult

I would think that John knew Jesus and about Jesus at a very early age. When they went back and found Jesus in the temple at age 12, John, his cousin, may well have been there too.
Where is your evidence that John did not know Jesus? Their mothers were cousins, who were together when pregnant, and fetus John "leaped" in the womb to greet the fetus Jesus.

Picky point, folks. Both of these stories are from Luke's gospel.

No problem having them enter our discussion, of course.

But please remember to mention it when you are using scriptures other than Mark.

I agree, its obvious John knew Jesus, John just never met Him which is what I said. Just because Jesus and John’s mothers were relatives does not mean that John had ever met Jesus prior to baptizing Him. I have first and second cousins that I never met , though I have heard my parents talk about them for many years and I ask about them and hear stories

CErtainly as Luke tells the story. WE have no way of knowing if MArk is aware of that narrative. All we know is what Mark says.

This brings to mind a question about the authorship of the gospels.

It seems to be well accepted that Matthew and Luke both had the gospel of Mark at hand and used it in their own writings. This makes sense, I would say.

We also know that Matthew and Luke have material in common that does not appear in Mark. The hypothetical document Q is considered to be the source of the extra stories. Some commentators talk about Q as though it is a proven fact and not a hypothesis. I have even read that it originated in Germany. How would we know this?

And how do we know that the extra material was not part of the oral tradition of the day?
