Julian Assange is being held in a notorious UK prison previously referred to as 'Britain's Guantanamo Bay.'

The WikiLeaks founder spent nearly seven years in a 330-square-foot room in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where he had been seeking political asylum. On Thursday, Ecuador revoked his asylum, allowing British police to arrest him.

As he awaits potential extradition to the U.S. he's been sent to Belmarsh, considered one of UK's most high-profile prisons.

Does this increase fame or no taur ability? Say nothing intelligent in a word that has cast a sense that information (nus) is undesirable ... that's fixed and instituted as Unich (a word few can label or attach to anything)!

It is thus bifurcated in a differing tensor ... mysterious stuff should remain that was ... according to those suffering motor energy fixations ... thus nothing changes point of perspective ...

I remain in an apparant psychosis and few can diagnose it ... tis the nature of the darkness of the core illness of the civic structure ... a social malady that I've been told just isn't so ... just lost sol syndrome without a hope of lightening up ...

He was first taken to a local court where he was found guilty of a bail-jumping charge – a crime for which he could serve up to a year in prison there. The sentencing date for that offense has not been set.

Then there’s the impending court battle over extradition that itself could last months or years, according to Amy Jeffress, a former Justice Department attaché to the U.S. Embassy in London.

Produced by Pulse Films, XY Chelsea tells the historic story of whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, whose 35-year sentence in an all-male maximum security prison was commuted by President Obama in 2017. Shot over two years and featuring exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes verité with Manning, the film picks up on the momentous day in May when she leaves prison and follows her through her journey of discovery, while also examining her place in the conversation on national security and the fight of the transgender community for rights and visibility. XY Chelsea premieres Friday, June 7 at 9/8c on SHOWTIME.

Let’s not give Assange the credit of being termed a journalist. He was a hacker who got lucky when he ran into Manning. Who at the time, I guess had his reasons for treason

He served time, maybe enough maybe not, I am not a judge

But now she is coping with the fallout

It must be somewhat a relief for him that something finally gets moving. I can understand his poor mental health. I would imagine that a lot of less popular people in jails have similar poor mental health and do not get seafood linguini and visits from famous people. But, living into the unknown for so many years certainly has a different spin on it. What kind of an outcome had he been waiting for? I suppose, rape does expire at some time.
Did he actually have Ecuadorian citizenship or did they give it to him after he moved in? Could he have been smuggled out of the embassy, like in a garbage can or so to be moved to an unknown island ? He probably would not have wanted that either.

No he doesn’t have citizenship for Equador and apparently it had grown to be a huge issue for them. A house guest who stayed seven years too long

Not like it is honourable to shelter someone who is skipping out on a trial for sexual assault either. I suspect they gave him shelter because of the USA hacking but then got caught giving protection to a possible sexual predator.

Who ‘knows, those charges may be bogus, time will tell

Honours and Awards

The Courage Foundation nominates Julian Assange for the 2019 Galizia Prize for Journalists, Whistleblowers & Defenders of the Right to Information.

Julian Assange merits this award on the following grounds

Julian Assange is the only publisher and journalist in the EU formally found to be arbitrarily detained by the UN Human Rights System, which has repeatedly called for his release, most recently on 21 December 2018. He is in dire circumstances, faces imminent termination of his asylum, extradition and life in a US prison for publishing the truth about US wars, and has been gagged and isolated since March 28, 2018. He has been kept in the UK from his young family in France for eight years (where he lived before being arbitrarily detained in the UK), has not seen the sun for almost seven years, and has been found by the United Nations to be subjected to “cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment”.

If given to Julian Assange, this award will immediately act as a force to push against his gagging and isolation and help him to resist US determination to extradite him from the UK for publishing the truth.

As Daphne Caruana Galizia herself wrote:

“If America could burn Julian Assange at the stake, it would do so. That is the real sadness of what this situation has revealed: that when it comes down to shutting up those who inconvenience us, we’re all brothers and sisters under the skin. It is just a matter of degree. China jails Liu Xiaobo and the United States tries to do the same to Julian Assange.”

Assange’s attorneys in the UK say the extradition process might last five years because it will likely end up in the European Court of Justice. If true, conceivably Assange could be detained for five years awaiting extradition, ...

The original reason he took refuge was not because of charges related to wikileaks. Either he goes to the US or Sweden. I think he'd be better off going to Sweden.

Trump will give him cards down ... based on rule of law ... trump'sWay!

Thus the pen dulem swings without a concern ... anis!

Trump has no pathee ... and ancient word for feelings, sensations and projected pain as empathy! Few grasp the means, or meanings ...

The words just fly ... flighty and ephemeral ... dovetailing it ...

I do not think he should go to jail or worse, for wikileaks. I do think he should answer for the charges in Sweden. Maybe the case would amount to little, and he could have constitutional protections from the Swedes. I don’t think they would treat him worse than the US. I think they would be fair. But he needs to get there.

do not think he should go to jail or worse, for wikileaks

He has already been in jail for 7 years ... and following that ...

On April 11, 2019, police arrested Assange for daring to access and disclose military documents that portray the US government and its endless wars abroad as reckless, irresponsible, immoral and responsible for thousands of civilian deaths.

Included among the leaked materials was gunsight video footage from two US AH-64 Apache helicopters engaged in a series of air-to-ground attacks while American air crew laughed at some of the casualties. Among the casualties were two Reuters correspondents who were gunned down after their cameras were mistaken for weapons and a driver who stopped to help one of the journalists. The driver’s two children, who happened to be in the van at the time it was fired upon by US forces, suffered serious injuries.

There is nothing defensible about crimes such as these perpetrated by the government.

When any government becomes almost indistinguishable from the evil it claims to be fighting—whether that evil takes the form of war, terrorism, torture, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, murder, violence, theft, pornography, scientific experimentations or some other diabolical means of inflicting pain, suffering and servitude on humanity—that government has lost its claim to legitimacy.

Focus on the alleged sexual misconduct by Julian Assange in Sweden is misguided. AFAIK He has never refused to answer for those charges. Whether they have merit or not is unknowable to mysef. The information that has come out of WikiLeaks on the other hand - none of it has been proven false. Where is the outrage around that? Let the women that are alleging sexual misconduct have their day in court by all means ... but does one man's alleged sexual misconduct null and void all of the crimes against humanity that he has had the courage to bring to light at the greatest cost to his own safety and well-being.
