Agreed, easy to do, and happy to do for another group.

This is exactly why we have the concept of subforum mods in the specialty forums Basically, these are mods who can only exercise mod powers in a specific forum. We don't have subforum mods for UCCan Talk because we generally have enough UCCan members and clergy on the regular mod team but for a more specialized forum like this, we could give one or two members those rights. And regular mods would still be able to mod there as well if needed. If you get interest, @Mrs.Anteater , let us know and we can discuss in Council and get things set up.
Thanks. The CYM is August 4-11, I would think that the comittee might check WC2 out. Subforum sounds like a good idea, because quakers don’t really “ discuss” / “ argue”. Moderating might look a bit different there.

Would you be interested in being one of the subforum mods, if it happens? I know you're fairly new to the Friends but you're quite familiar with WC2 and it's rules and protocols, which may be as important as your status as a Quaker.

Another question to consider is how to set up access. For UCCan Talk, there is actually a separate access right. We give it to everyone by default but, because it is separate from access to the general forums, we can ban someone from UCCan Talk without banning them outright (I have a sticky post at the top of UCCan Talk explaining this). That way, if someone is causing deliberate disruptions specifically in that forum's discussions, we don't have to go nuclear on them, just remove their access to that one forum. I'm thinking the Quaker forum would be the same.

I think lets wait until I hear something back. They might absolutely not be interested. I jumped the gun a bit, because I wanted to hear some opinions from WC before any official interest is voiced. That way, they could also see, how people here think about them.
Thanks for starting to think about the practicalities.

In terms of moderator, I would be willing, but it also would need someone from out west , most Quakers are over there and with the time difference, I would be fairly delayed in reacting to anything.

We can moderate for a group, but good to know their nuances

what WC2 ers are thinking if Canadian quakers would take the opportunity to use this site for quaker related discussions/ information- non proselytizing of course

The more the merrier. Certainly another perspective would be educational.

how many would it take to get their own specialty forum?
I am unaware that we ever established a minimum number. I think any reasonable request for a specialty forum would be entertained by the Council.

Disturbing to who?

I would not advocate for this particular avenue as Religion and Faith sees the most traffic and invites much more participation than a specialty forum. Pop it in between UCCAN Talk and Guest Speakers in the Specialty Forum section. That way the Quakers will be able to have certain discussions in a relative peace. Try that in Religion and Faith and there will be no end of derailments.

There are only about 1100 quakers in all of Canada, so WC2 would likely not be overrun.

I don't think that is much of a concern.
