Sheltered In God ----What Does This Really Mean ?

This is my view
We certainly know what Shelter in Place means since we have been invaded by this Virus -----our homes have become our hope of protection and refuge against getting this deadly virus -----we were and in Canada at least still continue to shelter in place for the most part ------

But what does Shelter in God Mean ------The Bible meaning of Shelter is this ------

KJV Dictionary Definition: shelter
sheltered
SHEL'TERED, pp. Covered from injury or annoyance; defended; protected.
.
The state of being covered and protected; protection; security.-----To defend; to protect from danger; to secure or render safe; to harbor.

I say
So we see here it definitely says a state of being covered and protected ---protected from danger or injury -----

So God in His word sheltered many of His Chosen from danger and provided security for them in times of danger--injury and destruction ----and had them emerge from this shelter with more greatness than they had before God entered their lives ----

Some examples are ----God sheltered Nosh and his family from the flood --in an Ark and Noah emerged the father of the nations of the world ------God sheltered Jacob from Esau who was going to kills him and Jacob became Israel -----the new name of God's chosen people -----God sheltered Joseph from 17 years old to his 30th year and even as he was in slavery and prison God sheltered him to school him to emerge in greatness -----God sheltered Moses in a desert for what 40 years ---Moses emerged as the one to bring God's chosen race out of the bondage of Egypt ----David was sheltered by God and emerged as a King ----

The Disciples were sheltered by God in an upper room until the Holy Spirit emerged and anointed them to proclaim the Gospel of Salvation --God sheltered Paul in a desert for 3 years and he emerged as one of the greatest Apostles of Christ and when he was sheltered by God in prison he wrote 4 epistles ----and then there is John --God sheltered him at Patmos and John emerged writing the Book of Revelation---

And Last Jesus was sheltered by God the Father in a tomb for 3 days and then was raised from the dead -----

So while we don't know what God is going to do in our present situation upon emerging from this mess we are in now ---- What we can know is what God has done for His Children in the passed who He provided refuge and shelter for -----My hope is that when we Emerge from this shelter in place we will be like the people in the passed who emerged better and brighter in the end -----

Question
So how do we feel about God today in the midst of this chaos ---Do you believe that Shelter in God exists -----

I know -many don't believe there is a God ---many I am sure may have lost their faith in there being a God with what is going on in this world right now ------Some may have come to receive Jesus as their Lord ans Saviour because of this pandemic --Some may wonder where God is in all this ---some may see it as cause and effect -----etc ----feel free to give your view ----

In principle, it's a very beautiful, comforting thought. The fundamental power of existence offers us shelter from the storms of life. It is definitely a role I see for God, especially a process type of God who isn't going to magic away all the bad stuff. If God can't stop all evil, at least God can help us get through it.

Do I believe in a God who can offer shelter? Not really. Not right now anyhow.

I so agree with this statement -----and for me personally ---I believe fully that Shelter in God is possible ----it is how to get this shelter that is the question ?


Just my view here
I personally believe that my God is a God who cares greatly for His Creation and wants the best for each individual person to evolve in their lives but we thinking that we don't need any ones direction decide to not listen to our inner selves and allow the outside to influence our ego and say I can shelter my self ---so we push the inner promptings out cause we think we are capable of avoiding the danger or bad evil things in this world all by ourselves -----but here is the thing -----God sees and knows what is coming in our future ---We don't -----

Who saw this virus coming before it physically arrived ------Not us ----God could have stopped this virus--- but what does that teach us humans who are the evil and sinful ones and who ignore the one person who can send an inner prompt to warn us of the coming danger ------

God is not a Magician -----God gave us free choice and He allows us to have it ------God can direct our lives away from danger to our health but we have to let Him --and we humans say ---there is no God ---so how can God direct or Shelter one who doesn't believe He exists ----- or how can God direct or Shelter on who believes He exists but feels they are more capable of keeping the danger or bad situations away from themselves by relying on their own common sense when we humans can't see what is ahead of us in the days ahead when God can ------

I believe and His word says God is the same today as He was when He sheltered Noah ---Joseph ---Moses ---Jacob ---and all the others ---so if God did it then --then He is still capable of doing it for us ------

God will prompt our Spirit when danger is coming on horizon ------But Do We or Will We Listen to the Prompt ------that is the real Question

Example ----ever been traveling and made a wrong turn ----your going down the wrong road and you get this bad feeling in the pit of your stomach that says -----I think I made a wrong turn here --- Well guess who it is -----God's prompt to get you to turn around to go on the right road --trying to Shelter you in Him ------do you listen or keep going cause your common sense says never mind that feeling --keep going -----result you find out you should have listened to the feeling not your ego feeding common sense -----

Can we be Sheltered in God today -----for me the answer is Yes

Strength and Encouragement in this time of chaos --fear and uncertainty -----God can be our Shelter -----

That whole psalm, really, covers the topic well. Luther drew on Psalm 46 for Ein Feste Burg (A Might Fortress is Our God in English). It is a common theme in the Psalms overall, too.

It is interesting that a lot of modern love songs talk about love as a shelter. It is kind of the same thing, really, just on a higher plane. Instead of the love of a loved one, it's the love of God that offers the shelter.

We see in Revelations 7 that the 144,000 are sheltered in God during the Tribulation period ------This is very uplifting in my view as it shows that God is faithful in keeping His promise and Covenant with the Jewish nation ------His first Chosen Nation to be saved

If God is infinite is it hard to escape such sentient matter and non-matter?

It is how sentient factors escape us ... rendered to nothing as in when a neighbour wishes you denied sustenance ... this is how it goes ...

So here lies the Question ----If Scripture says that God does Shelter His Faithful -----does that not apply to us today -----in the face of this Virus or other serious dangers or harm that manifest themselves in this world ?-

And No------- God is not a Magician ---this shelter --(protection ) does not rain down magically upon us -------

Take Noah for instance -----God had His part to give Noah His protection and Noah had his part to receive his protection ---so no magic here -----both God and Noah has their job to do -----


God's Part ---He had to find a Faithful person to speak to ------He found Noah to be a righteous man ---God spoke to Noah and told him that a flood was coming to rid the earth of all human kind because of their evil ways -----God gave Noah detailed instructions to build an Ark to save him and his family and animals from the water Judgment that was coming ------


Noah's part ------He had to believe what God was telling him ----So Naoh had to have the right Faith and big trust in God's word -----Noah then that to go and get all the materials that God wanted for the construction of the Ark and then make sure the measurements were accurate ----and then make a pitch which was to be put in side and out of the Ark to keep the waters of Judgment out ---

So no magic here just a bunch of hard work putting his right faith and big trust into the right action to get his Shelter in God ------when there was no sigh of rain in sight ----

God in His Grace Provided Shelter to Noah ----and ----Noah by and through his Faith and trust received his protection by obeying God's word

So today is no different for us to have protection in God -----God already did His part ---Shelter in God comes under the unbrella of Salvation Provided by His Grace -----Our part is to receive it by and through our Faith in His Son Jesus Christ -----

Excellent example ----of someone waiting on God to rain down protection magic---- without doing their part -----

it is like the guy at the well who is very thirsty --he sits beside the well saying ----My God will supply my water to quench my thirst--- while the bucket sits on the side of the well with the rope attached to fetch the water the man needs -------waiting for magic water to appear from God ----God supplied the well and the bucket to fetch the water ------the man doesn't do his part ----

This is called Dead Faith -------

So "let go and let God" is not the way to live? I am good with that.

To my mind, if there is a God, that being is not going to be intervening directly in every minor little personal crisis moment. God has created a universe full of what we need and we have the mental and physical abilities to use that. Why would we expect God to have to micromanage it for us? God provides wisdom, strength and inspiration, God provides a universe that supports life, but God is not a vending machine or a personal support worker. God as shelter is about God supporting us and showing us a way, not God literally fixing everything wrong.

Sentence from above Post -----------God has created a universe full of what we need and we have the mental and physical abilities to use that.

While I agree with this statement to a degree ---I say

Many people in this world who had this great mental and physical abilities to protect themselves by wearing a mask --gloves ---sanitizing etc --etc from this deadly virus - are dead or have the virus because they refused to use their great mental and physical ability to help themselves to stay safe or their putting all their trust in the these things ----Not Smart people

So for me ---we humans just think we are all this and that --and we think we have all mental and physical abilities to shelter ourselves safely without God ----Many are neglecting their only Shelter ----

God has provided a way of Shelter for Sinners but sinners despise God ----we know sin is wrong but we do it anyway --we have the great mental and physical abilities that God gave us to stay away from sin but we don't ----how smart is that ----

My view
Shelter in God as far as disease and illness goes ----is a bit deeper than just having great mental and physical abilities goes ----it is having the right Faith and Trust in the one who took all sickness and disease with Him on the Cross -----so it is not thinking that the mask and gloves and sanitizer will keep you safe ----all that does is minimize the risk of getting sick and even if you wear these --if your eyes are exposed which is an opening for the disease to enter you are not protected ---it is all about Believing in Jesus Christ who took ALL Disease and Sickness with Him according to His Word and that Faith in Him and what His words says is truth and will do as it says ---- that is our total Protection ----so while there is sickness and disease in this world belief is in Jesus Christ who has the ability to keep His Faithful Protected by Faith in Him is the real Protection -----


Matthew 8:17 (NLT)
17 This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said,

“He took our sicknesses
and removed our diseases.”[a]

I say
Our Shelter is in our Faith and Trust in in Jesus and His word -----Faith by itself will not Shelter us ----- -While I agree that God provided masks and gloves etc for us ----and by wearing these we are doing the right thing ---but we shouldn't think these items will definitely keep us totally safe ----only one person can guarantee total safety and that is Jesus Christ -------

Isaiah 53:5 says ---By His stripes we ARE Healed ------Past tense here ----Healing is already in place for us -----and that is true Shelter in my opinion -------
