We went for a hike today. It was perfect weather 22 and sunny. We thought we'd be walking about 5kms on a flat boardwalk at Mount Washington on Vancouver Island. we ended up walking 10 kms up and down the mountain. There was snow on the paths that made it more of a trek. There was also mud. It was quite the hike and I thought they were going to have to carry me out. I made it. It was a nice day. Are tadpoles a tad polished? It is like a literary mistake of lothera vs luther ... a devil of an evolution with an err in jeans ... genetic failure?

Word is like that and they say "stupid" cannot be fixed! Something few are sentient about with a very large eye ... the greatest may be delu*sioned!

Fractured light ... Çi?

As the light of the rising sun is fractured and filtered by clouds, let us gather round the beverage cart for the warmth of human community and hot drinks.

Good morning. I'm starting the day slowly with a cup of coffee. Yesterday we went on a 10 km hike at Mount Washington. BC version. We went out expecting to walk a flat boardwalk. We ended up trudging through snow covered paths on the mountainside. I felt all different muscles last night. Today will be slow and restorative. The venue was lovely and the company great. We met others walking. People respected space and were friendly. We enjoyed the Whiskey Jacks boldness and enjoyed the spectacular scenery.

I picked this little bouquet from my garden - just leaving it here as a bit of springtime peace & beauty. Wishing everyone a good "weekend" - although for many that has relatively little meaning these days.

We did some hiking at Mount Washington a number of years ago - such a beautiful place. The boardwalks were interesting, and then into the forests ... so pretty and peaceful.

It really is a beautiful place. When we sat for a bit it was nice to enjoy the silence. The drive down the mountain was gorgeous too with the views of the ocean and Comox Valley.

It feels like rain here, cool, breezy, overcast.

Carolla, what are the names of your cut flowers , other than lily of the valley which i do know

I need a trip to BC where I have time to visit places like this. We have really only been to Vancouver and Victoria, plus a couple forays into the BC Rockies when we were in Banff and Jasper (almost 30 years ago now).

Please let me know when you come for a visit. :)

Carolla, what are the names of your cut flowers
Pulmonaria (lungwort) - spotted leaf, pink/purple bell shaped flowers
Forget me nots - blue
Double creeping buttercups - yellow - looks like small ranunculus & I love it; can be a spreader, especially in moist areas (mine is not in moist space) so need to keep an eye on it.
And of course the fragrant lily of the valley as you identified. They make a lovely small bouquet.

Never heard or seen any whiskey jacks- are they from the blue jay family?
I think they are only found on the West Coast. Not sure about Whiskey Jacks, but the Stellar Jays (also a West coast bird) are definitely related to Blue Jays.

Oops - edit - was typing at the same time as others!

They are apparently one of the only birds that's found across Canada. I had only heard the term "Whiskey Jack" when I came out west. Apparently that name is an anglicized version of a First Nations name.

I think that these are the same birds, or closely related to, the Gorbys in NB. Also called the Grey Jay or Canada Jay. A bit bigger than the bluejay and without the crest, and more of a forest dweller (we used to get them around the bird feeder at the camp.) They got to be quite tame, but never tame enough to sit on a hand.
