Its not raining here yet, just frozen dew at -1. Worship is at my house and all I have to do is go out at 10 to put some sand on the driveway. Most people live within a 5 km radius. But we will see. Greeting to New Brunswick!

Good morning, all! Coffee cart with other beverages available is ready to go. Help yourself.

I have delicious waffles to offer, some with choco chips, some without. Had to use up some of the eggs a coworker brought me a whole pallet of, extra large double yolkers. Apparently, when chickens are very young, they lay eggs with two yolks. That was useful when I was making christmas cookies and needed more yolks than egg whites for the recipe.

A good morning to stay in here. After all the rain yesterday, our back yard, and those of several neighbours, is quite flooded - and I think has a skim of ice on it from the temperature drop overnight. Pretty windy today too, and skim of snow.

So I think morning worship for me will be by joining the Hillhurst United church in Calgary - by facebook live :) I thought I might be late - but then realized the time zone difference! Looking forward to that experience.

Good morning. Coffee is delicious. I've been seeing the conversation on messenger from the choir up north. Apparently the windchill is -47 and the music director is encouraging everyone to stay home. It might just be her and @GordW at church this morning. Probably Gord's family too.

We had a nice visit with my sister at the hospital yesterday. She seemed better. We were there when the doctor came in. The doctor is a hospitalist and was very nice. I now know what a hospitalist is. Her information was very hopeful. We all now have a better idea of how discharge decisions are made (by PT and OT info), and a few other things. Mr Northwind and I have to go home today so we won't get to the hospital. He has to make sure the hose heater is on and possibly turn on the tank heaters as we are expecting below zero temps this week. I have to go pick up a new medication so have to speak to the pharmacist and learn about it. I'm so thankful to have close to normal energy again for all this.

Way too cold to get any rain here.
I'm feeling very frustrated, it's always one thing after another. I had to request a refill from my pharmacy multiple times before they did anything with it. I also have a new prescription - same medication I have used before, but I am to put it into a nasal rinse. With everything going on I didn't sit there and look everything over and they left me no instructions. I had to call - multiple holds and then asking for my name, date of birth, etc. mutliple times. I am to put 1-2 inches of the ointment in my nasal rinse bottle and then shake it very well. Considering that has dosing I'm surprised it wasn't included as an instruction.

Good morning. I found the food cart in the hallway here. Red must have gotten distracted. I've added a pot of steel cut oats for those still in the breakfast time zone, and a plate of assorted sandwiches for those in lunch. Of course, there are gluten free and veggie options. Enjoy.

We woke up to snow this morning. It's quite pretty out there. I took this photo before the sun (which is hiding behind a cloud cover) came up. 20200113_074837.jpg

We had a bit of snow here too - and some freezing and/or liquid drizzle throughout the day. Still lots of water pooled in the back garden from Saturday's rain. I've been inside today - doing a bit of an experiment with sourdough baking (fingers crossed!) and tidying up the Xmas stuff - a bit late this year. We decided to photograph & catalogue a lot of our ornaments & our Xmas tree collection - they have been collected on many vacations & I seem to be the main keeper of the info on the vacation info. So it's time to get that out of my brain & onto paper. Slow going tho when husband is the photographer - much more meticulous than I would have been!

We're heading out into the world in a bit. There are reports of icy roads, though most of those comments are from wimpy islanders. Still, it is wise to be careful on a day like today. I got an email saying choir might be cancelled tomorrow night. To be fair, apparently more snow is expected tomorrow. Still, it might be a little over-cautious.

My stress is high. My grandpa is in the hospital - flu & pneumonia. My dad flew out today to help take care of him. On the way home from the airport, on the provincial highway (province is responsible for it) going through the city my mom was in a car accident. There were at least 5 vehicles involved, maybe more including a bus. She was near the start and collided with the bus as well as the cement barrier and not sure how many time she was hit after. She is blaming herself, but witnesses make it sound like that's not the case.
She is at home but is bruised up quite badly and she won't hear about her xray results if anything is broken until tomorrow. Besides neighbours, no one there to help her out.

Sorry, Chemgal. I wish everyone well.

Sorry to hear about all this, ChemGal, and hope the winter weather %$#@!@# passes soon, Kimmio. In the meantime, we can commiserate around the virtual table with nice warming beverages.

Ah, this warm beverage is delish. Thanks Red. I've just come back from the dentist. The last time I saw a dentist was August 2018. Thankfully my teeth were in decent shape. More thankfully, the chemo does not seem to have damaged my teeth. Phew. I like this dentist and hygienist.

I am pretty happy with my current dentist. He's a bit old-fashioned compared with the guy we saw before (e.g. uses x-ray film rather than the new digital x-rays) but teaches at Western and has done work for the College so clearly knows his stuff. And, most importantly given why we left the other one, you never get the sense he's fishing for more business.
