Sunrise today was (per Environment Canada) 5:45 and sunset is supposed to be 9:06. Solstice is looming, though (should be Thursday or Friday) so the day won't be getting much longer now.

Weather this weekend sucks. Cloudy, chance of showers, cool (for June in Southwestern Ontario). Risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Hate it. Want to bike but getting wet isn't part of the plan.

I have been buying panels and posts on sale to built my fence. Poor neighbours pitbull is almost always indoors, they both work and when they come home they hop on their atv and go out without the dog. They have been letting him out on a leash only- but I feel more comfortable when the fence will be up. Junior has committed to help. I a, worried it is going to be all crooked , the more YouTube videos I am watching about how to do it.
Since Junior offered to help, I pushed him to solve his mouse problem and do a house cleaning. I knew they had mice on and off, but didn’t know it was so bad. The kitchen cabinets were peppered with poop and the mice were living in the stove. They both have not been facing the problem and his girlfriend still gave me a hard time and did not help ( I guess the “ mother in law syndrome”). When I offered my help weeks ago, she said she had cleaned it, but it was far from that.
They also ( and nobody here in Eastern Canada does) didn’t know about Hanta virus and all the precautions you have to take when cleaning up mouse poop. True, there hasn’t ever been a case in Nova Scotia, but I still would not want to be the first one. I worked 2 1/2hrs on Thursday and 1 1/2 hrs on Friday and left junior with instructions on how to proceed. It didn’t help that they had what looked like a weeks worth of dirty dishes sitting there when I started.

I have travelled in areas (e.g. the US Southwest) where it is common enough that they actually post warnings so I am quite aware of it. However, given that 96% of cases in North America happen west of the Mississippi (at least as of 2017), I imagine most people East of that line are largely unaware of it. However, Hantaviruses (it's a family, not one virus) are found on every continent but Oz so I imagine it's only a matter of time before one or more varieties become common across the continent.

Good morning all...Happy Father's, Grandpa's and Baba's Day :D
(Baba is a name I've heard people say when a parent's gender isn't binary)

This is my favourite place to come for my second coffee, since I have to limit myself to one these days. What the heck...I can have it with sugar and tons of cream (since it's imaginary). I brought some treats....date squares and homemade chocolate chip cookies, but I hope a good brunch is part of your plans today.
The birds wake up here around 4:30am. Good thing I'm a morning person.

When I lived further north, there was a derelict shed on the property I was renting with lots of deer mice in it. They are supposed to be the type that carries Hantavirus. I stayed out of it because I didn't want anyone to risk breathing their poop dust.
But they're so darn cute.

Ah listening to you folks and rain-we seriously need MORE. June has been very dry. Our water levels are low and forest fire risk is high.
Had vivid dreams last night and at 1 point realized I was holding my glasses by 1 arm. Woke this am to find one arm snapped off and the other severely bent.
They usually spend the night on the nightable.
Sigh Good news is I have 2 pair
Bad news is that I will take them to glasses store tomorrow and pay for 2 new arms. Still cheaper than new frames and/or lenses.

what do you do when cutting open an organic orange for a recipe and you realize it smells like a grapefruit? You cut out another to be sure and then use them in the recipe, but add a wee bit of lime juice too. It will be fine-it is beets in the slowcooker. Son comes by, and checks tag on bag, yep grapefruit. LOL.Shopping together I had sent hm over to the display for a bag of oranges and neither of us had checked the tag.

I'd probably buy grapefruit over oranges anyhow (prefer them). They are almost non-existent around here right now, though. My No Frills has some loose but the price is like the New Horizons space probe - way out of this world.

If they are that bad they really need an exterminator. Typically mice aren't seen.

Isn't the skin of oranges much more orange (vs yellow) and aren't grapefruit much larger? (Organic oranges tend to be small).

That said, I could see that happening to me in a hurry, too.

:)

True! Also, I don't remember ever noticing bags of grapefruit. Two or three single grapefruits is the most I ever buy - but it wouldn't cross my mind to even look for a bag of them, so I wouldn't realize that was a thing and I, too, would probably pick one up thinking it's oranges (which I am more likely to buy more of all at once).

There have been times when I've had a hard time deciding whether I was looking at grapefruit oranges. Small dark grapefruit can look the same as large oranges easily.
