So, Sarah Blackwood of WOTE has these two friends that she sometimes records with. And their recordings are almost inevitably marvellous. Here they are backed by members of WOTE with another beauty of a track.

Is such Howling politically correct or just a rite of passage ?

I think this one got me laughing the hardest.
It sounds authentic, and punk rock sarcasm is a good choice! I think the Smiths version was funniest, though I don't want to over analyze comedy. I think I've watched it 5 times and I've sent it to a bunch of people - because something about the melancholy, in contrast to Trump's actual personality, I find hilarious (Paton Oswald put out the request for the Smiths version...and Twitter followers obliged). Emo Trump.(we need the emo emoji for this)...

Too much talk, not enough music. Two of my favorite YouTubers have new tracks out.

First, a lovely piece from Julia Westlin

Then the powerful voice of Faouzia with her latest, a song that she's been teasing for a while.

When I saw that Kina Grannis had released a cover of "White Flag" by Dido, it was a "Hell, yes!" moment. I love the song and it's perfectly suited to Kina's voice and style. And Kina did not disappoint.

And some new music with a wonderfully visual video from Rufus Wainwright. My days of being somewhat ambiguous about Rufus' singing style are long gone. I'm a full-blown fan, now.

After posting the Choir!Choir!Choir! video with Andy Kim, I discovered that Andy was just inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Here he is from the induction ceremony with probably his biggest hit as a singer.

Ravi Shankar left the world quite a musical legacy. Besides his own recordings and those of people he taught, he also had two daughters (with different mothers) who are both great musicians in their own right. One is American singer-songwriter-pianist Norah Jones. The other is Anoushka Shankar who followed in her father's footsteps by becoming a sitar virtuoso. Here's a lovely recording featuring Anoushka and band with Alev Levy, a singer I am not otherwise familiar with.

Julia Westlin continues to impress and her latest couple songs are just gorgeous. Hope this is a sign she has her health struggles in hand and will be able to focus on music in 2020.

This just arrived on my screen. This singer/songwriter is from High River, AB. The video was shot in High River too. It looks just as impressive at night as it does during the day!

A veritable Lilith Fair in my YouTube subscriptions tonight. Four female singers, all quite different but all amazing in their own way.

We start with Kina Grannis. I don't know the original of this cover, but I must look it up. Kina sounds lovely, even when doing other people's material.

Then we have Moroccan born Winnipeger Faouzia. She does this wonderful thing where she follows each new release with a stripped down, often acoustic, version of the song. And those are often my favorite versions because stripping away the production tricks and accompaniment puts the spotlight on what has to be one of the best voices out there right now.

A hip-hop artist covering Tegan & Sara doesn't seem like an obvious thing at first. But when the hip-hop artist is Polaris Prize winner Haviah Mighty, it ends up working. This is part of CBC's Juno 365 series, where they get a current or upcoming artist to cover a favorite Juno-winning song from the past.

And Julia Westlin continues her string of original songs with "Paradise". She's been playing guitar a lot recently, which is interesting because when I started following her, she was mainly a pianist.

One more. Didn't watch this video until later so didn't include it above. Janet Devlin is an Irish singer-songwriter who came to fame in the UK on The X Factor. She has a new album looming and this song is the latest release from it. It's a dark, moody song and video and I love it.
