Post-upgrade questions

A while ago, you wanted everyone to switch to a different WC2 website address (?) which I bookmarked and it showed up as secure site update” on my bookmark. Now it says “ not secure” when I am on WC2 following the same bookmark. Am I missing something?

Look at the actual url in your browser. It needs to start with https:

I have found a way to force all traffic on to https but won't have time to implement it until the beginning of May. For now, as Bette suggests, just make sure your browser's address bar shows the address beginning with https: when you're on the Cafe.

What happened to the forum page? Now the latest post is no longer to the right but underneath of the forums. Is thatnew or did Ido something to the view on my Ipad?

You're getting the mobile version of the site, which does put the side widgets below to allow it to fit on narrow screens like phones.

On Android, Chrome has a Desktop Site checkbox. If you click that, it will try to use the desktop version instead of mobile. Can't speak to IPad. @Kimmio Laughterlove, you're an Apple user, do you know?
No, I haven’t noticed a checkbox. Sorry I can’t be of more help. There are a few new things with the layout that I’m still getting used to.

Oddly, I saw this post while logged out. It was under new posts - which I think is an extra step from before. But I didn’t get an alert when I logged on.

Another thing is...when I sign in to reply to a post it doesn’t stay on that page, where the post is, that I want to respond to. It takes me back out to the homepage where I have to go to forums, then new posts (or, alternately, recent activity) to find the post.

Also, upside-down dates on the homepage. Still happening sometimes. I find it weird, almost disconcerting. Maybe it has to do with being signed in on 2 devices. Or already being signed into one then trying to sign in on the other? Sometimes I will switch devices if one is in the other room or is almost out of battery power.

Actually, I just noticed that the other thing to check, @Mrs.Anteater , is the zoom level. If you zoom in really large, even on a desktop monitor, it will adjust the view to accommodate, pushing the widgets to the bottom as if you were on a phone.

Yeah, I haven't seen it and I've used WC2 on multiple Android and Windows devices and browsers. I'll fiddle some more and see what I find, but I'm thinking it has to be something fairly specific.

On my phone now. I highlighted and copied the date on the top left on the homepage. When I copy, it's upside down. When I paste, it's right side up.

MAY

When I do the same on my iPad it's right-side up to begin with and stays right side up. However, on the phone, I can only highlight May and 11, each separately (It breaks when I highlight each word), as text, or, it copies with several blue points like an image. On the ipad I can highlight May 11 together with no break, just like normal text except it highlights May and 11 underneath it as though it was one line. I don't know if that helps or even makes sense. It has something to do with the text boxes used for the dates, maybe? Is it a style that doesn’t translate to my version of iOS on the phone? I’m remembering how sometimes text does not translate from some software to other software...like if you write something in Word with a font that the receiver doesn’t have in their Word version, or Word alternative.

@Mendalla? I’d like to know why this is happening. Why is the homepage that I view from one device askew? It doesn’t matter what internet connection I use, and it started happening since the upgrade - so it must be a site issue on your end. It doesn’t make sense, if no one else using iPhone has the issue, unless it was set that way.

I don't have any answers. I posted on the support thread for the portal software we use and there has been no answer, not even others with the same issue. With no Apple device here, I can't even test it. I will look at the templates and see if I can change the formatting of those date boxes in some way.

I just don't see how it could happen unless it is a glitch on your end or a hack of some kind, through the site. You can customize what viewers see - so why is mine different unless someone else somehow changed the formatting I see? Or maybe something you used is not compatible with my phone but I don't understand that with a text box. I could fathom why if it was a bunch of big image files or moving banners, but not text.
