Went to see "It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood" movie today. Highly recommend it. Insightful & compassionate, with interesting weaving of the story. It will touch you on many levels. There is much deep wisdom being shared. ❤ (oh - and you might want to have a tissue handy - it evokes many feelings.)

It's one I want to see, and I'm hoping that it comes out here in 4dx. In part because I love the format, and in part because it's a money-saving move, I only go see movies when they're in 4dx. I think Hanks is a great actor and we always watched Mister Rogers when I was a kid. Did you know Rogers was a Presbyterian minister and that Hanks and Rogers are actually distant cousins?

Hanks as Mr. Rogers seemed like a natural to me from the time the casting was announced. Did know about Fred Rogers being a minister, did not know they were related.

How many ministers have skills at toons? It sinaskillin ... with laughter till there's tears! Few get that far into metaphorical literary development ... as the edifice is pretty solid when it comes to change, learning and movement! Cartonn wheels along ... a distant position ... bonded?

Definitely! I love Hanks - and he seems to choose his films with integrity. I've never seen him in anything I didn't like, and most seem to carry some social commentary - although in the earlier movies it was not quite as clearly articulated.

Okay, it's a made-for-Netflix TV show rather than a movie, but I am rather excited by the prospects for Sandman, based on the fantasy comic series by Neil Gaiman. And the main reason I am excited for it is that Neil himself is involved, including doing some of the writing. This past weekend, he did an interview with CBC Day 6 in which he talked at length about plans for Sandman for the first time on any media (yes, the CBC got a scoop on a British author's project).

Earlier this year, or maybe late last year? There was a documentary released about Mr Rogers titled "Won't You Be My Neighbor". It's quite beautiful and worth seeing. Pretty sure it's on HBO. I haven't seen the Tom Hanks version yet, but it's high up there on my list.

There are some firmly set hands that take on a differing Christian acceptance of neighbours ...

Recently seen: Frozen 2 (might as well out myself now - I'm close to obsessive about watching Disney movies) and Knives Out, both of which I place in the Must See category. I'll be expecting full reports form each and every one of you by Monday. Thanks for your compliance.

I will be seeing Frozen 2 with my sons - aged 18 and 20. Both are die-hard Disney lovers. My youngest mentioned Knives Out at dinner. Need to go check out the trailer.

Trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 dropped recently. I got my first look last evening.

Can't get the soundtrack snippet out of my head. Visually stunning. Swinging from lightning with her golden lasso? Not resting on the laurels of a good start.

Yeah, I watched it, too. Diana is really the most visually exciting superhero in DC's canon, perhaps even moreso than Superman, and it looks like they are doubling down on that in the movies.

The new Bond trailer looks interesting, too, but I'm not really finding much interest in me to catch up on Craig and it looks like No Time to Die carries on a lot of elements from SPECTRE.

Went to see that yesterday afternoon. Particularly poignant for the friend I went with, who lost his father this past year and didn't get that forgiveness moment.

I really want to see it! Some friends were talking about it the other day. I think everyone I'd go with has seen it. I might go on my own in the next week or so. If it's still around. Jan 2nd might be a good day to do that...New Years Day, even.

I kind of want to see Bombshell because of who's in it. But not desperately. I can wait and see if it comes out on Netflix.

Oh, and in "movies you'd NOT like to see", the Globe & Mail gave the new Cats movie 1/2 a star out of 5...

Kimmio, go see "Neighbourhood". Take tissues, minimize mascara use.

Way back, when the show was still fairly new and popular, they talked about doing an animated version a la Pixar. Probably would have been a better approach. A lot of the problems seem to be with poorly done or poorly conceived CGI and mo-cap.

Recently watched a documentary (CBC) titled "Encounters" - about the life of Margaret Atwood. I knew very little about her as a person & found it fascinating. You can find it on the CBC website - highly recommend it.

Went to the movie group at our local library this evening - saw "The Farewell" - highly recommend it. It's an interesting story, well cast - 'based on an actual lie' - layers of life, lies & secrets in a Chinese family whose matriarch is diagnosed with cancer. Had a great discussion afterward.
And ... there was a beautiful piece of music in it - which the credits revealed was by Leonard Cohen - so I'll just drop that here for you too ...
