Got buried in snow. Nov. 8 isn't the earliest I've had my shovel out but it is early.

If we have snow left by the end of the day I'll be amazed. Chinook today :)

Northwind, just curious, how are you are enjoying RV living as opposed to a house? I'd love to hear all about the pros and cons.....

We love it in an RV. It is like a small apartment and we're surrounded by nature. We're in a park that is like a small community so we have a nice circle of friends. People are generally friendly around here. We didn't need the amount of space we had in our house. I'm glad we did this when we did. Life is much simpler so we can deal with my health stuff better.

Kind of toying with the idea.....is it warm enough? Heating costs reasonable? Lot's always available?
Too nosy questions???

We've been warm enough. We are on Vancouver Island after all. A 100 pound propane tank lasts close to a month. The electric bill is either side of $100. Our park has reasonable monthly rates.

Life in an RV - it's great for those who love it.

I currently live in a luxury apartment in one of the world's most fascinating cities. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, gourmet kitchen and dining room. Right outside the apartment building's doors are myriad shops, cafes, restaurants, movie theaters and park. It's absolutely delightful.

Living in a luxury apartment is great for those who love it. It does not impress me

I probably should be working.

I would argue there are many different definitions of luxurious. Northwind's proximity to nature sounds pretty luxurious to me.

I love spending time at my cottage in the winter. Limited heat, no running water, outdoor toilet, the works (or lack of the works!) - but I find the snowy landscape and wood burning stove the height of luxury.

I wouldn't mind getting outside the city a bit more, but I'm not sure living full-time in an RV would work for me. Something more like what @DaisyJane suggests about living at the cottage, though I'd likely go a bit less "off the grid. My aunt's place at the family cottage property up North, which does have running water (drawn from the lake and treated in an ultraviolet system) and a septic system, would probably suit me. Alas, I married a city girl who doesn't even understand the folks who build their houses out on back roads around the county here.
