The Voice of the Blood

From the beginning blood has been regarded by God as a most precious thing. In Genesis we read where God spoke to Cain, “The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground” (4:10). Note these three things from this first mention about blood.

  • Blood has a voice.
  • Blood has a loud voice—it cries!
  • Blood has a loud voice that God heard.
Next notice the intriguing, instructive, and significant words in Hebrews. “But ye are come unto Mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, ... And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel” (Heb. 12:22,24).

In Genesis Abel’s blood cried. In Hebrews the blood of Christ speaks. Indeed, there is a voice in the blood!

Can we have a Bloody Caesar instead of a Bloody Mary? If so, I'd like one of those please

This is where, without any sense of metaphor, things get weird.

Ironically, I was just thinking today how politics needs a "blood transfusion" to energize it and put honesty and authenticity into the rhetoric, and start really representing the people crying for help and for equality and justice. Christ was a vocal advocate for the oppressed ...so, in a manner of speaking, blood has a voice. I don't really see how literalism helps with understanding this article/ OP. It makes the jokes too easy.

And one does not need to wonder why there are still extremists in the world who think that “ blood shedding” of innocent people makes any sense.

That's almost plasma-like as the sight of red, flags and all can raise the level of violence!

I'll bere with it give me a red eye ... doesn't that indicate the devil coming home to roost ... mum on that ... don;t wake hymn just yet! Silence all my friends in spirit ...

It is just irrational like the push towards unlimited passions ... explosions that spread the word that: "maybe we shouldn't nah done it that way!" No body knew because of forget ages ... that devoid time ...

Commonly (koine) is there another side to this? Only if you accept the deux in duality ... out with the monad and make a mark in Pares ... how men are cut down in the mum of the night ... poetics at the finest hours ...

If you look the bible is loaded with secular metaphors ... and textual boobs ... booties!

Anyone who doubts the power of blood has never seen a plasma cutter.

I'm pretty sure that's what those things run on.

Okay, I pulled a bit of a double take there. Harold Vaughan was also the name of a United Church minister but he's been gone for 30 years. And likely wouldn't have thrown down with this guy on a lot of things.

And was related to me.

On the whole blood thing, one of my early stories revolved around vampires who took the whole blood thing a bit too seriously and regarded themselves as descended from Christ (yes, they thought Jesus was the original vampire). The story has since vanished into the mists of history, likely not a bad thing. It was a bit of a nasty piece.

This article seems over the top to me. And I am one who prefers the traditional words for communion . . . I am not a big fan of the "cup of blessing" and "bread of life" language.

But the blood imagery is in the bible. Why would you not be a fan of it?

I understand it's stupid. It must be embarrassing. But it's in there.

Blood in the aye ... can cut through a lot of crap ... look what it did for the POTUS!

Does leave the person with that mean horse face however ... all wench 'd out of shape ...

Seven Places Jesus Shed His Blood & its significance
ON FEBRUARY 29, 2016 BY NATHANANDEMILIA

https://nathanandemilia.wordpress.com/2016/02/29/seven-places-jesus-shed-his-blood-its-significance/

1) The Sweating of Blood (In the garden of Gethsemane)

Luke 22:40-44 NKJV
- When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

This signifies that Jesus Won Back Our Willpower to resist temptation because He overcame the greatest temptation that was so intense, it caused Him to sweat blood.

2) The stripes on Jesus back and shedding of blood at the whipping post.

John 19:1
So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. This signifies that Jesus has won back our Health. His body was broken so ours could be made whole.

3) He was bruised and suffered Internal bleeding from being beaten.

Isa 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: This signifies that Jesus won back our right standing with God & delivered us from our iniquities (Wickedness/Sin)

4) The shedding of blood when receiving the Crown of Thorns upon his head.

John 19:2
And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. This signifies that Jesus has won back our Peace of mind and that we are free of torment. The enemy can no longer torment our minds.

5) The blood that was shed through Jesus’ Pierced Hands.

Matt 27:35
Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.” (It was custom in those days to crucify people by nailing their hands & feet to the cross).
This signifies that Jesus won back our prosperity so that everything we put our hands to, shall prosper.

unsafe posting here Deuteronomy 28 ----from the Blessings which are now in place for all believers ------

8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

6) The blood that was shed through Jesus’ Pierced Feet.

Matt 27:35
This signifies that Jesus won back our dominion & authority

Gen 1:26 says “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Luke 10:19 says “Behold, I give to you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the authority of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

7) The blood that was shed through the spear in Jesus side.

John 19:34
“But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.” The fact that blood & water flowed from his side symbolises that Jesus died from a broken heart, the intensity and anguish of the weight and burden of all of our sins that He took on Himself and our continual betrayal against Him was to much to bear & ultimately caused His Heart to stop beating.

This signifies that Jesus won back our Joy and healed us of our broken Hearts.

Jesus defeated the curse that the Law brought in and Retrieved the Blessing back For all who receive Him today as their Lord and Saviour ------The Blessing in Deuteronomy 28 are active today for believers -------

Blessings from the Lord
28 Carefully obey the Lord your God, and faithfully follow all his commands that I’m giving you today. If you do, the Lord your God will place you high above all the other nations in the world. 2 These are all the blessings that will come to you and stay close to you because you obey the Lord your God:

3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

4 You will be blessed. You will have children. Your land will have crops. Your animals will have offspring. Your cattle will have calves, and your flocks will have lambs and kids.

5 The grain you harvest and the bread you bake will be blessed.

6 You will be blessed when you come and blessed when you go.

7 The Lord will defeat your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction but run away from you in seven directions.

8 The Lord will bless your barns and everything you do. The Lord your God will bless you in the land that he is giving you.

9 You will be the Lord’s holy people, as he promised you with an oath. He will do this if you obey the commands of the Lord your God and follow his directions. 10 Then all the people in the world will see that you are the Lord’s people, and they will be afraid of you. 11 The Lord will give you plenty of blessings: You will have many children. Your animals will have many offspring. Your soil will produce many crops in the land the Lord will give you, as he swore to your ancestors.

12 The Lord will open the heavens, his rich storehouse, for you. He will send rain on your land at the right time and bless everything you do. You will be able to make loans to many nations but won’t need to borrow from any. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. You will always be at the top, never at the bottom, if you faithfully obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. 14 Do everything I’m commanding you today. Never worship other gods or serve them.

Thanks be to God for this Great Grace gift that He offers Freely to all who receive Him in their hearts -----the Free Gift of Salvation ----

But the blood imagery is in the bible. Why would you not be a fan of it?

It's ancient book. The only things they had to distinguish between life and death were blood and breath. Hence, blood and breath become the foundations of their metaphors.

I am a huge fan of removing the cannibalistic elements of communion. Bread of life and cup of blessing are very meaningful images to me.
