Yes it is. But as non thinking people with great intentions but no understanding of reality don’t understand.

It is DARK in the winter. Wind is not reliable. So if you shut off your energy source, that is cheap and reliable. First you must have something to replace it with. Just do it once please. Then we will follow.
There’s lots of great inventions but if the oil lobby keeps them out, they aren’t allowed to happen. That’s the roadblock.

I totally agree. Remember I've been accused of sitting on the fence here.

While we dither about pipe lines the USA has ramped up oil production to highest level ever and built miles of pipe lines. But somehow the worlds climate is the fault if Alberta
And we are giving what we produce to the US for half price, with the NDP And the Liberals gone, who both have huge math issues-this problem is going to be remedied next year.

And they are now electing progressive candidates pushing the Green New deal but they’re just a bunch of “commies” right?... and conservative oil lobbiests will spend huge sums of money to try to stop them at every turn.

Oslo Norway gets pretty cold and runs on clean energy. Reykjavik Iceland uses only geothermal and hydro energy and is aiming to be completely independent of any fossil fuel in 20 years. That’s reality.

The big oil lobbies fund the environmental groups fighting the oil sands. Why? Not to stop the production of oil but to stop the production of Canadian oil and increase the production of American oil

The Green Party here has a page - knocking others. No name, not exactly something I want to vote for.

So far my rankings CON, PPC, Lib, NDP, Green, BQ. Only the first 3 are legitimate choices from what I can see.

Energy sources and renewables is a whole thread unto itself, I think. Earth & Our World seems to be the right forum. (hint, hint)

The Green New Deal is not about that. It is about cutting out fossil fuel production and use in the US...you’d better believe, like the NRA is about guns, the oil lobby will be about oil...fighting progress to the ends of the earth.

If I still owned a house in Alberta how would I proceed? Should I retrofit it so it has geothermal and other green energies? If so, how? How would that be funded? Would I as a home owner be expected to bear the entire cost?
