I was stunned this morning to read of her death. The news of her cancer hadn’t reached me somehow. And only three months since diagnosis.

A fantastic journalist who worked for all the Toronto papers over the years. Reading about her today has been amazing. Her tenacity. Her love of journalism. Her life. Her devotion to veterans. Her compassion

I hope someone publishes a book of her articles and columns and raises money for vets

She was controversial, in part because off her no holds barred attitude. Reading about her presence in the courts was Surprising. As was a judge who today in court thanked her for her service

"The story was clearly meant to inspire and move the correct-thinking reader.

As an incorrect one, it nearly caused my head to explode.

Linda Gibbons, a peaceful anti-abortion activist in Ontario, has served almost 11 years in jail for walking up and down sidewalks outside abortion clinics.

The day she gets the Order of Canada is the day I may regain my mind."

- Christie Blatchford

May She Rest In Peace

I also was surprised to learn of this today - hadn't realized she was ill. She was indeed a voice to be reckoned with.

I did not often see eye to eye with Blatchford, but she was always a hell of a good read nonetheless. Tell it like it is, or at least as she saw it. She will be missed. RIP and good vibes to her family, friends, and colleagues.

Damn, I never agreed with her, but she could be very entertaining. A unique voice lost, and quite young (in my increasingly pro-ageist opinion, lol; I'm looking forward to a good friend's 90th birthday on Sunday!).

Pro Aegean ... is that a timely realm of myth! Hard domain to crack ... as it contains the seed of demos ... spor to the empirest!
