This is the whole context of your scripture GeoFee ----I think you forgot to quote verse 40 --46 and especially 47 ----

I say The word inbirths the Faith needed to be save and Jesus who saves is the word ------the word became flesh don't Forget

John 5 AMP

Testimony of the Scripture
39 [h]You search and keep on searching and examining the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet it is those [very Scriptures] that testify about Me; 40 and still you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory and approval from men; 42 but I know you and recognize that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43 I have come in My Father’s name and with His power, and you do not receive Me [because your minds are closed]; but if another comes in his own name and with no authority or power except his own, you will receive him and give your approval to an imposter. 44 How can you believe [in Me], when you [seek and] receive glory and approval from one another, and yet you do not seek the glory and approval which comes from the one and only God? 45 Do not think that I [am the One who] will accuse you before the Father. There [already] is one who accuses you: Moses, [the very one] in whom you have placed your hope [for salvation]. 46 For if you believed and relied on [the Scriptures written by] Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me [personally]. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

At any rate, I am not even sure that "God within" and "the Kingdom of God within" are even the same thing.

If I can ask what makes you think they are different in meaning ------

This is how I see this -People who have the Kingdom of God within them have God within them ----the Holy Spirit is God according to scripture -----

It comes down to how we define the Kingdom of God, I think. I am starting to shift towards seeing the Kingdom as the new heaven and new earth which will arrive at the end of the age. Reading the gospels is giving me the idea that this is what Jesus meant.

But I am not completely certain. I could argue otherwise, in fact.

My view on this
--If God is present IN all people then the whole Bible is a big fat lie -------just saying my opinion ----

Would you call these bible verses lies?

Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion (Gen. 1:26);

But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding (Job 32:8);

He has set eternity in their hearts (Eccles. 3:11);

What may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them (Rom. 1:19)

Although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God (Rom. 1:21)

They did not like to retain God in their knowledge (Rom. 1:28)

Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them (Rom. 2:15)

paradox3 ---you say -----I think. I am starting to shift towards seeing the Kingdom as the new heaven and new earth which will arrive at the end of the age

Ok-- if that is the way your thinking is ---

This is just my view on this

The scripture refers to this new heaven and earth as the Holy City the New Jerusalem in Revelations --I don't think that Jesus ever mentions that in Matthew --Mark --Luke or John ----Jesus did say -----in my Father's house there are many rooms -- -Jesus came to preach the Good News as people have to be saved before they get to enter the holy city -------He talked about the Kingdom of God is near --or is at hand ---so it makes one think that He is talking about the Coming of the comforter who will dwell within if they come to Him and receive His Free gift of Salvation ------

I could be wrong about Jesus not talking about the new Jerusalem in His teachings --if you find a scripture let me know ---so I am aware that it was talked about -----

AFAIK you are correct unsafe . . . Jesus never used the term "New Jerusalem". It comes from the book of Revelation.

You always keep me on my toes, @unsafe! I have been thinking more about the idea of a new heaven and a new earth.

Here is the quote from Revelation:
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

There are a couple of references to new heavens and a new earth in Isaiah. Here is one of them:
Isaiah 65:17 For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind.

And in Peter, we find:
2 Peter 3:13 But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home.

Matthew 26: 1-16

Jesus predicts that the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified at the time of the Passover.

The chief priests and elders meet with the high priest, Caiaphas, and plan to arrest and kill Jesus. But they fear a riot among the people.

While Jesus is at the house of Simon the leper in Bethany, a woman comes with an alabaster jar of expensive perfumed oil. She pours it over His head and the disciples become indignant at the waste. Why wasn't the oil sold and the money used to feed the poor? But Jesus defends the woman for her service. The poor will always be with them and she is preparing His body for burial.

Judas Iscariot receives thirty pieces of silver from the chief priests to betray Jesus.

These few verses are all that Matthew gives us for the interval between Palm Sunday and the Passover. I will post the rest of Matthew 26 on Maundy Thursday. For reflection, I have chosen (v.13):

"Wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."

Any thoughts?

The mysterious woman ... the eternal great mother who greased up the flames ... bewitching power?

Is there a counter point to this? Seems impossible to avoid ... a' void unseen! Where the denied are stored unconsciously! AR mate ...

'In memory of her' - and we don't even know her name?
This reminds me of a scene in the series Call the Midwife.

The doctor falls in love with one of the nuns and she reciprocates. When they profess their love for each other, the scene ends with him saying, "I don't even know your name." It turns out to be Sheila . . . he had only known her by her religious name.

Whether it was her intent or not, the nameless "Perfume Lady" has made a "name" of sorts for herself. Perhaps Jesus was thinking more of people remembering her actions rather than her as a personality. In our world we put a lot of stake in the individual and want to know about who she was and why she really did it and all that. Indeed, some modern novelists would write a page or two on just that, even if they still just called her "Perfume Woman" or something. For Matthew, though, her place in the narrative and the meaning of her action is what matters. She's just a bit player with a specific role.

"nameless "Perfume Lady"

Gives a sense of essence to a mystery ...

Parallel cognate to myrrh 'd Eire! It was a spice used in Egypt to douse the carcasses of physical tyrants ... the myth that haunts those of powerful denial of the peoples story ... folk lower'd! That's depression of the Kubler-Ross Nature ... a conjuration from a speck in the eye of mine'd ... the existence of "sol" Poo-pode by many ... something to grasp even in haunting essence. Some contact may be suggested by that old German Dr. Mesmer! There's more to that trance-like state ... Beautiful Dreamers/Beautiful Mind? Hummers in the winds ...

Mind-sol connectivity ...

By their fruits you will know them?

There is real tree of choices ... and then there is the mystical tree of logos ... chose your words with a sense of levity ... the sol relation is delicate!

Amongst the tyrants ... who am I? While You Are There as some columnists used to present news of destruction ... yet it was taken as entertaining like the Romans in the Circe ... myth is the common reaction to brute and draconian rule ... there are base needs for the rest of the human bodei ... up to now the darkness rules ... Machiavelli ... if you didn't reach into his satire and palm something useful ...

To me it indicates a duality of darkness and a counterpoint to light and white lightning! Pure chock'n essence ... ne*ural?

To me pure theory as nothing physical appears everlasting or intimate except emotions balanced by the sublime sol ... Midnight child requires weird dynamics --- Bobby Service (relative to Magee)! Be careful how you fire the sol ... sometimes the fruit is like coconut ... guerilla conflict carried out by monkeying about? So much to network in the field of myth and metaphor ...

Thus the Bin goes ... and often a mountain is made of it ... sacred spots?

Good Lower'd can you imagine the parallels? The hoe Eire groans at the grooving ... furroughs?

paradox3 ----So glad your curious to look things up ----the more we are in the word the more knowledge we gain and the more we strengthen our Faith ---so good for you -----

This scripture you quoted ----- Here is the quote from Revelation:
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

I say This scripture ---is important as it shows that eventually this old earth will be discarded -----So for me studying Revelations shows human efforts to try and save this planet will not work ---God will eventually destroy this old earth to bring about the New Heaven and New Earth and we humans will not stop that -----and we see here the Sea will be no more as well ---- Just my view here ------
