I think that was the year I started to work....in a university library. Such fun because I fit in more with the students than my co-workers. But I agree -- high school was not my favourite time in life either. Descent into Hell sums it up nicely.

Good morning! Saturday has happened, when I wasn't looking... Time for coffee, etc. Help yourself!

Then smoke went up the hole in TP ... later developed into crooked stovepipes ...

Doesn't that cap all as it goes round too?

I wish I lived closer. This sounds like a great way to spend the day.

1979 (I now that was just yesterday!) - the year I got married (we need a little heart emoji please!)

Today has been a day of kitchen magic - baked a gingerbread loaf (with yummy cream cheese frosting!); prepping a sourdough sandwich loaf which soon will go into the oven in my new pullman pan (second time for this recipe, first time for the new pan!) Also have a cranberry pecan sourdough loaf started - it will proof overnight & be baked tomorrow :) Looks like that will be a good breakfast or tea time treat.

I've also tried out using a KitchenAid stand mixer today - seems luxurious compared to my old Sunbeam Mixmaster which is many decades old. After some online chat with pinga & KaytheCurler about its merits - and finding out is weighs a TON - I also talked with a good friend while on our Wednesday walk. She has a mixer & had lots of good tips to share - then showed up at my house with her mixer to lend me for a bit so I can see if we can find a place to keep one, and to try using it for making bread dough. Yup - I think we can manage it! So now I have to watch for a good sale - do you think Valentines Day might bring that? Not terribly romantic gift in the traditional sense - but as I said ... married 40 years now! LOL

Friends coming by tonight - going to teach them to play Mexican Train. Anybody else want to drop in?

I got mine off kjiji for $100, it was just two years old and not much used. Like it is with all those electric machine, you either make good use for them or you don’t- and since they take up counter space, for those who don’t use them eventually sell them to make space.

Space is spatial for originality! There are tests for this room ...

Got note from my brother that my mother‘s health is declining more. She has been in the hospital after having a blood pressure of 200, which they now can’t get lower than 170. It sounds like she is very weak and is planning her last days, with the risk of stroke looming over her head. Family meeting by skype will happen the next couple of days. I have two weeks vacation left available before end of April, but my workplace is in chaos, working short already and the casual OT who was helping out is off now because her brother committed suicide last week.

I am grateful for the coffee cart and sort-of friendships here. Lately, I have been dealing with slings and arrows from a variety of directions...so, hence the gratitude!

Sorry to hear your news Mrs.Anteater. It can feel extra challenging when a family member is very ill far away from you. (((((Mrs,Anteater)))))

While this is unfortunately the case, do not let it sway your decision on whether on or not to be with your family at this time. Your workplace will never remember whether you were there or not, but you and your family will always remember this. We hope for employers to be compassionate in such times - which makes such decisions easier. Glad that you can participate in the skype care conference. Challenging times and my heart goes with you on this journey.
