Andrew Scheer's future

So lying about important things is fine according to you. Well that tells me all I need to know about your integrity as a "Christian"

Putting words in my mouth is fine according to you...? What I said is that I'd rather have as leader someone who has allegedly lied than someone who has done racist acts. That does not necessarily mean that I want someone who has allegedly lied as a leader.

'ALLEGEDLY??????????????????????" Face reality. Scheer did it.
And no one is putting words in your mouth.

Pious judgmentalism in those swearing against prejudice without knowing ... considering what we know of what goes on in sacred AEries!

Tis a flighty place too ... thin on hard substance ...

And no one is putting words in your mouth.

Denial and exorcism is a great power ... no? Gnostic! The science is missing as observational experience in blind BS! So many more word and myths to engage ...

There is no allegedly about it. Scheer's lies are well documented and are about important things like his qualifications, his education and his citizenship. None of those would have been a concern if he'd been honest. It's worth noting that his entire campaign was pointing fingers and accusing his competitor of being dishonest. Anyone who does that must be inscrutably honest. He was not.

I stand by my previous comment about your integrity.

Jae, you object to racism? But you don't see it even when it's under your own nose?
Canada is a racist country. And the U.S. is a VERY racist country. So is Britain. They always have been. Get real.

Hm... am I in Canada? Am I in America? Am I in Britain? No, no and no. Oh, and of course I'm against racism.

Yeah, and Korea is stellar in that department? You've never set foot in Canada or the US? You suggest that the US is not laughed at because of its leader. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::p

Signs of what ... icons, impressions, Semites?

There there are illusions ... incarnate and their alternates! Sami logics ... a very deep process ...

Haven't read through the whole thread - I've taken a break from closely following Canadian politics since our o-so-inspiring election campaign - but a couple of thoughts to share.

I honestly don't believe that Andrew Scheer was "hiding" his dual citizenship or trying to keep it a "secret." I think it's a part of who he is and he just never drew attention to it. There's a lot about myself that I don't keep "secret" but I also don't share just because I don't think to share it. It's just who I am. So the idea that this was a "scandal" is utter nonsense in my view. (Of more interest to me is that the Conservative Party - which bitterly attacked Stephane Dion for his dual citizenship in 2008 didn't seem to care when it emerged that that they had a dual citizen as their leader.)

As for Trudeau - no doubt he did some stupid things many years ago. However, I truly don't know of a single person who actually, honestly, sincerely believes that Justin Trudeau is a racist. Privileged, entitled, out of touch, arrogant - perhaps all of those things. Unethical, dishonest, disappointing - maybe those. But I don't know anyone who actually thinks he's a racist. Pretty much everyone would agree that what he did was stupid. Should he have mentioned it himself before being "outed"? Perhaps, knowing that in today's political world things like that will come out. But there are stupid things I've done that I don't bring up in polite conversation either. I just hope they stay buried.

Neither of those so-called "scandals" affected my vote.

I agree with your sentiments here about Trudeau. Though I honestly thought this black face issue would sink him after all the other issues

However, it is the hypocrasy that strikes me with Trudeau. He is quick to dump MPs over poor behaviour. But has many excuses for his own

I loved that the groping the reporter in the past was excused as different people view things differently. Yes, you thought as a rich kid you could grope her and she thought you couldn’t

The black face issue. He lack of memory of exactly how many times. His unawareness that even 20 years ago that was not acceptable. His first laughing response that he likes costumes too much

He has now been taken down a big notch. That may make him a better PM. One who doesn’t think it’s ok to swan off to a private island. One who doesn’t try to arm wrestle the Attorney general to do what he wants

Time will tell

As to Andrew sheer. What surprised me during the election was his inability to answer seemingly simple questions. Though I suspect that was because he was trying to keep the people who backed him happy. Now I was also annoyed that reporters dug in on him about questions that they didn’t ask the other party leaders.

A politician needs to be nimble on their feet. Needs to at least try to represent everyone. Needs to have a credible plan to look after the population, the jobs, the environment, ......... and be able to discuss it

I am really not sure why he was unable to do that. It seemed quite strange.

By all accounts he is a really nice guy. As is Trudeau apparently. But being a nice guy isn’t enough to get you elected. I can’t believe he will still be leader in six months. Unfortunately he is going to hang on so that means a lot of time is going to pass before They get their act together under a new leader I get why he thinks he can stay. He increased his vote count. He got the most votes, ( not the majority of votes as Jae was saying but the most votes of any one party) but this election was a slam dunk. And he missed it

The Conservatives won the popular vote Lastpointe. I've given CBC and CTV articles that back me up on that. Is there another source you'd like to hear from?

*Sigh* Read her post again, especially the part I've included here for you. She's not disagreeing with you. She's simply telling you, as others have done several times before, that Scheer didn't get a majority of the votes cast.

Jae you're like a dog with a yummy bone on this one. Lastpointe said that "he" (ie, the Conservative Party) "got the most votes." No one is disputing that. The Conservative Party got more votes than any other party. But they did not get a majority of the votes (they got 34.41% of the votes cast.) That's a plurality, not a majority. Why are you making an issue of this?

People keep denying that the Conservatives won the popular vote. As a supporter of that party, I call unfair. The fact is that they did. I have provided links to articles from CBC and CTV that state as much. If I wanted to, I'm sure I could find same from other sources. I feel this is just a thing against me from a few of the other posters here. Usually, they'd accept both CBC and CTV as reputable sources.

No one - absolutely NO ONE - has denied that the Conservative Party won the popular vote. Why would anyone deny that the Conservatives won the popular vote? It's a simple fact. They did not get A MAJORITY of the popular vote. A majority is 50% + 1. They got 34.4% of the popular vote, compared to the Liberals at 33.1%. They won the popular vote. Forget CBC or CTV. Here's Elections Canada's official results page:

2019 Election Results

They got 34.4% of the vote. That's more than any other single party got, but that's not a majority of the popular vote. What do you not understand about that?

Congratulations, you win the prize for the final insult I'll be taking here at Wondercafe2. Bye all, it's been a slice.

What insult? I'm simply asking you why you don't see that no one has claimed that the Conservatives didn't win the popular vote.

And another good-bye? OK. Fine.

In the real world, the Conservatives and Liberals, one or the other, ALWAYS win federal elections in Canada. And that is because they always have much, much more money than any other party. They also get much, much more support in our news media. And they have more money because they are given it by the very wealthy. And most of our news media support them because those wealthy people also own our news media.
Think hard about what that means.

And that is why our very, very rich are getting richer while more of us are getting poorer.

And, in a move that should have us furious, our very rich pay no income tax - and very few other taxes. The wealthy countries of this world fight wars to please the very rich. But the very rich don't pay for our wars. It's our taxes that do that.

The very rich rob us. And we kill for them. Ever notice that for the last 70 years nobody has attacked us? The U.S. and Canada are the world's two, almost unattackable countries. The only country that has attacked Canada (many times up to the 1860s) is - the U.S.

And, in fairness, it has to be admitted that we attacked our own native peoples many times in all that.

We - like Americans and many other countries - are being robbed blind by our wealthiest people. That's why the U.S. has no money for health care for most of the American people. That's why university students face years of debt. That's why public schools have no money. That's why so many Americans, Canadians and British sleep on our streets.

Liberals and Conservatives don't have much for the Canadian people. But they'll send Canadians to die in American wars - like Korea and Afghanistan. And they'll support the U.S. side - as in all of Latin America - to please American and Canadian billionaire capitalists. Oh, and they'll
give the billionaires more billions of dollars - usually without telling us.

Wake up to reality.
