Good morning, all! The weekend is here. So is the hot drinks cart. Enjoy.

Good morning. The coffee is hitting the spot. I had my second last chemo treatment yesterday. It almost didn't happen. I had to get bloodwork redone. My neutrophils weren't quite high enough. Since I am basically healthy, I still got treatment. I got 75% if the dose. Yay. Almost done.

That's good Northwind ... the end of chemo is in sight! Phew.

It's been a sunny windy day here - no humidity & so very pleasant! I worked in my back garden for a while, but I got a bit worried about the high wind gusts & all the old trees around me .... so I came inside where it felt a bit safer. I am happy to report there were no casualties of the wind, and it is waning as sunset approaches. This evening we're going to walk down to the river - there is a 'water lantern festival' going on - many lanterns to be released into the river, which should be quite something to see. Unfortunately tho, it was an expensive ticket to participate - limiting who might be able to join in. But I think we will certainly be able to see the spectacle from various points of view along the riverbank.

Well it was a nice day. I went to the support group for women with cancer this morning. We were few in number. Still we had a great discussion. I found one woman's experience particularly helpful. It was a nice chat.

This afternoon we went to my sister's for a visit and dinner. Again, we had a nice visit with sister and her husband. Their neighbours were also there. Now we're home with feet up. I'll sleep well tonight.

Good morning, all! The sun has risen, the day begun. Let us salute the new day with warm drinks of all kinds.

Coffee would be welcome...and I'll grab a smaller homemade bran muffin (not those massive 360 calorie ones from Timmy's).@Northwind I'm so pleased to hear you're in the home stretch with the chemo.

I'll have a coffee in a bit. I love the magic of the virtual cart for that reason. Hot coffee whenever it's needed. The muffins stay fresh and warm as well.

We are listening to the rain beating steadily on the roof. It's very nice and very needed. We've had just enough rain this summer to delay fire bans. Let's hope that pattern continues.

Spending time with others facing similar challenges is very helpful Northwind. Glad you have access to a support group.

A question, if you don't mind - If you get a smaller than usual treatment do you have to have an extra one to replace it?

I took an afternoon nap yesterday and made the mistake of drinking a big mug of coffee at about 5 pm (should’ve had a virtual coffee here instead) then I was restless and could hardly sleep a wink last night. I am contemplating going to church, or going to sleep once it hits me. There’s nowhere else I have to be today (and I don’t really have to go to church but feel like I should go and catch up with my friends there). I guess I can handle an hour (shorter summer services), then come home and have a nap. But not for too long, so as not to get into a bad cycle. There are chores I have to get done today, too.

I don't think so. I had 10/12 Taxol treatments. They stopped there because I'd had enough and was having a reaction to the drug. I'd also had a great response to the treatment. They told me this was a sign my bone marrow was saying "enough". There seems to be good flexibility in treatment. I've read where others have been given different drugs when the first ones don't work out. They adjust and adapt as necessary. I see the oncologist in September after follow-up tests. I'll know more then. Though, the doctors all work as a team, so if there are different changes before then they will tell me.

My friends from Germany are here and we went to the Lunenburg folk festival. Great music.
But otherwise rather stressful, as they are in a relationship crisis, so communication is awkward at times and they are behaving so German , it makes me feel 150% Canadian. Husband is getting worked up about how some things are in Canada, behaving like an elephant in a porcelain shop while thinking he is right. we walked into a cafe, didn’t see the “ please wait to be seated “ sign because it wasn’t in an obvious place, so he steered to a table that was just getting available, and was all upset because the waitress asked him if someone has send us down there, feeling that he was “ kicked out”, and what a stupid rule we have in Canada.
The next place had a broken coffee machine, so we couldn’t get the coffee we were looking for and he kept on grumbling. While they both in normal times tend to be “know-it - alls” ( and honestly, they often do know a lot), it was tough to keep cool and gently explain that there are other customs in other countries. I feel bad for them, because they are on vacation and their negativity is just so stressful.
So now I am back home going back to work tomorrow and they are coming a day later to pick up some camping gear and take off for a little trip on their own. Three weeks are just beginning. I am feeling strong and grounded, though and hope I can keep it up .

If you ice your bruise-put ice or frozen peas on it, with a cloth between, then warm with your hand and repeat 3 or 4 times your bruise will go away sooner. It will go thru all the colour changes, dark red, light red, yellow etc. but just quicker than if you leave it alone.

For corgi puppies, visits from faraway friends, ways to shorten the appearance of bruising, and other things worth celebrating, the coffee and tea cart is ready to provide for your needs.

Happy Monday. As has been my pattern lately, I'm starting the day slowly. I had a nice chat with a former WC regular whose exact name escapes me right now. StevieB? Stevie is well and we had a great chat. I'm working on a sock while covered with a knitted hug from my knitting buddies up north. I made an omelette using fresh pattypan squash from a friend's garden. Delish. Now I'll turn on my audio book and continue the chill.
