And here is the test. I found the test a bit simplistic, but the descriptions of the types are a good base for discussion. What are you?

According to the quizz ... I am a Prophet - "the hardest spiritual type to be around, mainly because you naturally challenge others to examine their own lives and calling to change."

Spiritual Atheist is what I am currently 'type testing' myself as.

What's your spiritual type?

The next time, choosing some of the equally appealing answers I skipped before, it said I am a sage. And the third time choosing an equally appealing slate of answers, it said I'm a prophet.

Like you said, it's simplistic and I think there's crossover...but fun for curiousity and discussion's sake.

Sometimes, doing tests like this helps with group dynamics. We did this (different test) at work many years ago and the typing still explains peoples work attitude and reaction as well as why there is conflicts. I think it would be a good tool in congregations for a needs assessment ( find out how many of each types you have and then analyse which programs are filling their needs).

I found my reaction to several questions was, it depends on how I feel that day and the people around, and the environment. Especially the meetings question. Or sometimes the music is good but the sermon isn't as interesting or vice versa, and sometimes I like quiet and contemplative time. Sometimes I like quiet chats with friends, sometimes a community project, sometimes doing something fun and spontaneous. Depends on how much time we have and other things. How it jives with others and what they are most interested in also makes a difference.

I came up with 'sage.' I'm still wondering what a sage would do at the beach, because I couldn't see myself doing any of the 4 things they listed.

Me too. I suspect they could have come up with a better example, because I hate to get wet and/or sunburnt. I don't do "beaches" at all, except at 6 a.m. with the dog, mid-summer.

However, the description seems accurate, and I couldn't imagine myself answering most of the questions much differently, so there you are.

I am a mystic. It does mostly describe me I suppose. I haven't looked at the other categories. I suspect I do have a bit of each.

I agree, the answers were simplistic. That's pretty typical of these things isn't it. While, I could imagine floating at the beach, there needed to be a "hang out on the sand under the umbrella with a book" option. Who knows that the right meeting answer would be. I've learned over the years that I am more task focused than I realized. A meeting that is too focused on tasks though is deadly, isn't it. Meetings where we can connect meaningfully, with fun, can be the best for me.

I may go look at the other categories for fun.

It's interesting that, for a "spiritual" type quiz, there aren't any moral considerations. None of the questions have any moral or ethical values attached, they are mostly just individual activity preferences.

Seems to me that sages are largely the worker bees of life. I think I can live with that; at some points of larger ego, less so.
