We are coming to the end of another decade this year. January 1, 2020 marks the beginning of the "Twenties". Whether the 2020s will "Roar" as the 1920s allegedly did remains to be seen.

What has stuck out for you in the past decade (the 2010s, tens, teens, whatever you want to call them)? Could be anything, personal, professional, global.

I'll hit one of the low/highlights right off:

In 2014 the United Church of Canada shut down the Wondercafe.ca web forum. To the surprise and delight of many, Wondercafe2.ca, a community owned and driven replacement, came along to replace it and is still ticking along after five and a bit years.

Astronomically speaking, one of the big highlights was New Horizons. In July 2015, it became the first space probe to visit the dwarf planet Pluto, revealing a far more beautiful and complex world than anyone suspected. Then, in January of this year, it visited what was then nicknamed "Ultima Thule", giving us our first close look at an object in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of debris circling the Sun out in the vicinity of Pluto and beyond.

"Ultima Thule" finally got a formal name recently, becoming "Arrokoth" which is believed to have meant "sky" or "cloud" in the language of the Powhatan indigenous people (the language died out almost 300 years ago and the records of it made by early European arrivals are sketchy, hence the "believed" part). The Powhatan inhabited the area that includes modern-day Maryland, where those who originally discovered the small space rock were based.

I think I would like to go with the personal highlights, for the sake of keeping this thread upbeat. I got married and I enrolled into college and am very close to obtaining a degree in Social Work. Not going to mention how long ago I graduated HS. Let's say it was quite a long break between the two. :)

Work, including a toxic work place, retirement, two kids married and a third engaged, two grandchildren, Mom reaching a couple of milestone birthdays, my dance with the demands of being a volunteer, my dog aging enough to make me cherish every minute with her, a few deaths, a few births in the extended family, and at least 300 books. There -- a decade summed up in three lines!

I don't actually "like" that but I agree.

If one swallows the highs and the lows will one be base and foundational to those that believe they're fundamentalists and thus as high as Eve Angels ... these as dark as Gabriel speaking to yah in the shadows ... whether night time or Dei Dreams? Tis the zero sum theory that drove my grandpa into believe that love was nothing ... a flatline state ... follows the rules of the Dark State that is twinned as "Y"? There are positives and negatives giving two side to the point ... leaving us kind of abstract ... the ink are nate state yet to be overturned? Next page ...

Furthermore we must accept the autonomous state exists as nothing ... because there is no prove otherwise of the alternate either! Thus it is that we might not even be ... or not be in God's imagination! In their conflicts Gods dream otherwise!

Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion becoming a movement that continues to make headlines.
The world becoming more and more used to people going on killing sprees.
Dictatorships multiplied.
Highest number of displaced people on earth in history.
The “Me Too” movement brings women's rights into the spotlight and the pussy hat was invented.
Some countries developed into more democratic parties and got rid of dictators.
Nelson Mandela died.
An ebola vaccine was developed and proven successful.

wikipedia has an interesting list:

Insanity grows ... even though many say a state of psyche does not exist ... it has to be out-of-here!

In my spouses Sociology projects it was discovered that insanity can only be defined by a judge and thus further question about:

  • Where's de judge?
  • Resting in his darker quarters!
Thus exponential language could be expected ... and words fly ...
