Greetings convivial sentients

It has been quite a ride

So He has been our Public Servant PM since Nov 4, 2015

Let this be the thread where we can discuss how He has done so far? What promises has he kept? What has he broken? And so forth as yer muse (and politikal xpertise) tames u.

Realize this is politics of power and how power can be retained and extracted from the demos ... tis part of the Nous that makes some paranoid ...

Many get sucked into ridiculous debates ... like the impossibility of single parenting ... J' Zus ... that's Bazaar in Hadassah ...

Compared to the PCs before him, he has shown leadership and wisdom when it comes to the environment, and weaning us away from fossil fuels. Also, although I predict endless snafus, he kept his promise about recreational pot, which pleases me.

Political life is chaos ... polity meaning extreme ... allows for dervishes ... if we only understood half he metaphors presented to us to encourage stirs ... otherwise the walking dead? Jesus remains Cloe Set ... withdrawn ... in the pits of "v" or "u" ... tis a niche to overcome ... thus what bugs yah is out there ... generally an unknown!

TrudeauMeter

Keeps track of all 227 promises included in his electoral platform. It claims to be bi-partisan.

At the moment:

51 of 227 promises made (22%) have seen absolutely no activity.
69 of 227 promises made (30%) have seen some activity.
66 of 227 promises made (29%) have been achieved.
41 of 227 promises made (18%) have been broken.

The Trudeaumetre slots the promises into 7 categories and shows the standings for each category:

Culture (1/5/2/1)
Economy (15/13/18/16)
Environment (3/11/12/4)
Government (9/17/11/7)
Immigration (1/4/6/1)
Indigenous (4/6/4/4/)
Security. (18/13/13/8)

Just looking at the bare numbers the Trudeau Liberals are barely positive in Culture, Economy, skewing positive in Environment, Government, Immigration, Security and barely above water in Indigenous.

Of course those rankings treat all promises as equal and do not take into account that the population probably weights the promises differently.

For example, in the Culture group there are three subgroups Arts, CBC and, Official Languages. In this category where Trudeau has 2 promises filled for 1 promise broken we find the broken promise in the Arts category with promises kept in the CBC and Official Languages categories.

Does ensuring that CBC/Radio Canada Board of Directors are appointed based on Merit and ensuring that judicial appointments to the Supreme Court are functionally bilingual prevail over a broken promise that keeps $25 million dollars away from telefilm and the National Film Board of Canada?

It is a handy tool the Trudeaumetre.

I'm not unhappy with the job that he has been doing. I think that he could have done much better all around. I wasn't expecting perfection.

He takes a lot of flak over his socks. If that is the biggest gripe then it is a superficial issue and demonstrates that the Opposition really has no beef with the actual governance part of the job. It was like the spectacularly stupid slap at his great hair. Which actually gave away the whole idea that there was something fundamentally lacking and that the PM is basically a fashion statement the country makes.

Is he idealistic? No doubt.

Was Harper idealistic? Sure he was.

The problem is not the idealism so much as the ideals that are being ism'd.

Do I think that the CPC could do better? Not really. Especially since the last leadership contest was more about which candidate could secure the most "old-stock" Canadians. And failing to appeal to second-generation immigrants the white supremacy vote appeared to be the next best thing.

What about the NDP? I lean that way. In principle I won't vote for a Party Leader who has had ample opportunity to run in by-elections and has decided to put more public energy into letting us share his wedding day and engaging in campaign behaviour when a campaign has not been called. The NDP would have been better served by picking a leader who already had a seat in the House of Commons or was at least willing to try and win one in a by-election.

Political positions saliently on top of the pole ... leave them prone to shafting by the underdogs and dogmas ...

How deep is the underparts ... as past? Tis a deep mystery like history ... distinctly corrupted by winners? Consider the past a Dark Hole ... we just are not that familiar as some believe they are with creationism ... as if they created the hole thing ... maybe!

His biggest strength imho are his people skills. His greatest weakness is he often puts his emotions ahead of his logical thinking. I'm generally happy with the job that he's doing.

Trudeau is a man of no social philosophy whatever. His life has no record of any such thing. He was several years a teacher of French. Then he spent years teaching snowboarding to people on holiday. What does he think government priorities are? They are simply getting re-elected. It's a thing a person of his social standing does. Nothing more.

His father had some of that. But there was also substance to the father.

What principles do Justin stand for? I have no idea. And I doubt whether he does, either. The father had some influence in the international world. Justin doesn't. Pierre openly challenged the American view of Castro. Justin never would.

Justin is a misty figure, one who floats in the circles of the wealthy, and has never even thought of a world beyond that.

Pierre had an inquiring mind (sometimes annoyingly so as when , about 1939, he dressed in a Nazi uniform to stroll in a Jewish holiday village). Justin doesn't.

Wouldn't he say he is going to improve the lives of women and Indigenous people? He's the great white saviour after all. I'm
Growing weary of his alleged feminism. A privileged white man who apparently knows what's best for women and Indigenous people...... he was promising to start. I don't see substance in what he says.

Pierre certainly had charisma. He also had ideals and substance to go along with the charisma.

Justin is a misty figure, one who floats in the circles of the wealthy, and has never even thought of a world beyond that.

It would appear this is the case.

I guess history will be the judge. He was a refreshing break from his predecessor. I'm a little disappointed in him.
