He strikes me as a Canadian Trump. I dislike his views and presentation intensely.
I think that is just lazy? (The 45 comparison)

Rob Ford is Trump?

His brother is Trump?

I even remember when people thought 45 was Hitler and even worse than Hitler!

(Does Pierre like grabbing Cis women's junk? Or not drink alcohol?)

People are weird

We need Bob and Doug McKenzie back

With their Mating Call

COO ROO KOO KOO COO ROO KOO KOO!

(and after all , SOMEONE has to "win" the "conservative" race?)

Laugh once laugh often!

Rob, Doug, and Pierre represent a less extreme form of the same phenomenon as Trump. We in the classical world generally call them demagogues. Appeal to people's basest desires to get their support (e.g. buck a beer, which is a minor example but a clear one), even if that means tossing reason out the window (as Poilievre has done with his monetary policy of interfering with the Bank of Canada). If that's what people want, they are welcome to it. But be prepared for the consequences. Turkey forced it's central bank to toe the president's line and now their inflation rate makes ours look positively quaint.

I think Doug Ford and Rob to a lesser degree to Trump is a fair comparison. Not sure about Poilievre, haven't had the patience to give him that attention. Kenney definitely not.
Mendalla's mention of a phenomenon is different.

Ahh so not 45
But of the same phenomenon?
Ty for your explanation

What do you mean by demagogues? Is it an actual useful term that is testable and predictive? Like are there demagogues you like or are they all bad? Trying to grok here :3

Oh and its not Turkey anymore (as that causes offense to the Turkish gov't...it is now Türkiye)

Agree. It is probaably inappropriate to compare PP to anybody else.. Socially liberal, financially a bit off in the marsh, very effective at public speaking without saying anything concrete except for the weird stuff like firing the head of the Bank of Canada. He recognizes people's needs and wants, especially younger people and crafts promises that appeal to them but likely would make life worse for most of them. He is potentially a dangerous demagogue, I believe the inability of Trudeau to really understand what many people are experiencing makes PP more dangerous than he should be.

I believe the inability of Trudeau to really understand what many people are experiencing

See, I don't get this. Trudeau is a rich-ish guy, as are many politicians. How he understands "less" than a guy who has never worked in any job EXCEPT politics puzzles me.

Umm

I dont get that from what jimkenney12 wrote?

The contention of Trudeau having an inability to really grok what many people are experiencing has nothing to do with how PP or any other person does or doesnt so? They are seperate people? Who dont share the same brain? Etc?

jimkenney is suggesting that Trudeau doesn't understand the "common person". I'm just suggesting that PP's qualifications are similarly inadequate for such understanding. Silver spoons in mouths, by whatever manner (rich, or just never working at a real job), tend to make one misunderstand the less well off.

A year or two in retail or food service would cure a lot of attitudes, IMHO.

I believe he means well. He grew up with a name as a privileged white boy. Why and how would he understand real people's struggle. I do believe he wants to be an ally and will give him kudos for that. I believe he's learned during his time as PM. I wouldn't compare him and PP. They're both "clueless" about reality for different reasons.

PP is holding his cards close about how much wealth he has relative to Trudeau and his "Trust Fund", while PP'S personal net worth is greater by a long shot.
Neither is informed realistically about the challenges in most people face in their actual lives.

Ah, if we all retain sacred information how will the alternate self know anything whatsoever ... thus things fall down from there ... as the data is not 'ere yeteh? Thus one must drift through it as if crossing a much greater mush ... that's the grind of life ...

Pierre experienced tough times when he 2as young, tough times that gave him a sharp focus on managing his income and savings. He had never had a real job, like Harper, so easily accepts the same mantra as Harpe.

Pierre listened to the complaints of the members of the convoy and saw how to use their language to his advantage even though he does not care about working people. He is a wolf wearing a fluffy wool costume.

That's hairy as KJ's origins ... given the cross tracks in the bloodlines at the time ... hook now s ... like the high ram (Hiram) building a psyche ... with head hammering ... all mythical! We gained no sense whatsoever ... it is depressing chasing passions and dropping all thoughts ... fallacy?

Explains depth process ... maybe even sloe cookers ...

Oh, but he's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute in his widdle fwuffy costume.

It was the whole willingness to associate with the convoy crowd, even though it was known to include extremists well beyond the anti-vaxx, anti-mandate crowd, that really soured me on him. The thought of someone electorally beholden to that bunch of creeps sitting in the PMO just makes me cringe. I'll vote Liberal if it seems necessary to keep the Conservatives out of office while he is leading them. My riding has been pretty solidly Liberal in the time I have lived in it, though, so not likely that me switching my vote to them would accomplish much or be needed.
