How was church today?

No testimony or anything? That's unusual in an ordinance that is all about professing one's faith. Were they given any instruction before being immersed? We'e they baptized in the Name?
There is usually a video made that the congregation watches before they get dunked. It would include a testimony as to why they have decided to be baptized. People also usually attend classes leading up to it. But this was different, and for people who don’t want a camera in their face, but always wanted to be baptized, well there were a number of them. If teenagers wanted to do it, they had to bring a parent.

They were given instruction and clothing. They were baptized in Jesus name after basically just saying, “ I do.”

Not in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit?

We had a nice pentecost service. Sanctuary looks nice, with red banners, and some red tulle decorating the "flying cross" (don't ask, lol; we have Pinterest queen in charge of decorating) and lots of doves around. We had a baptism as well, the baby and young boy of a family who wish to become members at our membership service in June. Intergenerational service, which meant that the youth minister, a young man I like a great deal, was an active participant and we kept the kids upstairs, which is nice. Means a short sermon, lol...

We're not supposed to know enough to testify against alien powers ... tis a' thought ... similar to a' theistic ... where passion alone leads a person thoughtless lye ...

Mention of dark Roué-L ... or gruel (gamma = "c") in another version of feed for the soul ... could be a cruel satyr!

Thus the shade is cast as hue ...

Excellent church service today. The Pastor gave a wonderful message from Hebrews about how Jesus is #1 - he is greater than all others. Greater than all other priests, greater than the temple, greater than the OT sacrifices, greater!

Afterwards, we all enjoyed a delightful potluck lunch which featured meatballs, hotdogs, chili, and salads. Most people ate in our regular spot, down in the church basement, but there were also chairs set outside.

Trinity Sunday...The message was well-received, and I admitted my 'unknowing'. I had crafted a bit of a message based on what an ordained minister had talked about in one of his LLWL teaching sessions. I emailed what I had written and asked for advice/approval. He was great and added to what I had written, so I credited his knowing in the message.

Nice service today. The Rev unpacked the story of Isaah's call to prophecy, "Here I am, Lord", which was sorta cool, and clarified for me how very helpful the Wednesday bible study is for the minister following the lectionary in their sermon on Sunday. Very nice solo for our anthem. We had potluck as well, and I stayed to help with the dishes. My butter tarts were, as usual, well received, and I didn't bring any home, although I did get one for dessert.

Sounds like a replay of his Advent series.

With both ministers away at Msritime Conference, the UCW led the worship service - and did it well. Hymns were mainly from More Voices which I like. Had a good chat with someone I barely knew before during the conversation time after the worship. We both mentioned how much we appreciated how involved our church is.

About 6 weeks ago I thought my choice of theme for today would be easy to prepare. It was not, and, after much struggle, came up with a series of points I would try to cover using Isaiah 6:1-8 and John 3:1-17. The "Here I am Lord. Send me." passage is inspiring but when the rest of Isaiah 6 through 8 is read, it is almost like reading a series of Trump tweets: rants and promises follow each other in quick succession, and what God asks Isaiah to do in the verses right after 6:8 is different from what is asked in the initial question. I used the John reading to point out that Nicodemus was a powerful person who was inspired by Jesus, in the end, to put his power at risk and joined the people on the margins where Jesus was preaching and healing. The church likes to imagine itself as a caring part of the centre providing support for people on the margins, but we are, in reality, part of the margins of society. We can do better ministry by seeing ourselves as being on and of the margins and seeing the others on the margins as "us", not "them". One congregant told me he thought it was my best message in the time I have served there.

A fun thing was that I was the only one who ate my lunch outside. There were about 30 chairs there but no one else was interested in a nice outdoor lunch. It was good to eat alone out there though. It was a beautiful day and I took the opportunity to pray, people watch, and reflect.

After struggling for the words to say it must be good to have someone acknowledge them in a positive way. Time to enjoy Sunday afternoon.

Once again we differ. It doesn't seem logical to me that my words were addressed to you. Your words weren't on my screen when I wrote a response to jimkenney12. Simultaneous postings happen.
