I have been much benefitted by wrestling with language I could not comprehend at first glance. I regularly read Martin Heidegger’s “On the Way to Language”, struggling to gain some insight specific to his intended meaning. That is who I am, a struggler in the way of meaning and purpose.

Donald Trump is near the centre of attention for the masses, who prefer distraction and diversion to critical inquiry and responsible action. I notice this only peripherally. At the centre of my attention is the voice of truth beckoning “follow me”. Singing as I journey - “Though none go with me, still I will follow.” All of a sudden Socrates comes to mind. As does Jesus.

Truth ... ultimately some distance from a domain based mostly on lies ... we may need a crutch or staff to get along in this rocky boat! I get the image of higher wathas ... AEries?

Yes. I would rather struggle with George's meaning (and it gets complicated, because, f***, life is complicated), than try to wrestle with t he shallowness of a mind that produces such truly stupid tweets.

We need not struggle with language for struggle's sake.

I can not escape the conclusion that religious language becomes ambiguous whenever it doesn't know what the hell it is taking about. Not that you do that, George. I more think you write primarily for an audience of yourself.

I had an English teacher who drilled Orwell''s five rules into me. I always enjoyed Churchill's wit and took his “Short words are best, and old words, when short, are best of all" to heart. I may still use a long word when I think it works best or can be used for a laugh, but I'm constantly focusing on the people reading what I write. Humour helps because it raises spirits, and once you have a reputation of being funny, more people will read your posts.

I don't think I read at a level below the average of this forum, but after reading that post three times, I gave up. I thought I had the first sentence, then the second sentence seemed to contradict it, and it was downhill from there.

I constantly struggle reading your posts. Maybe I'm alone. I hear fingernails trying in vain to climb a chalkboard.

Understanding is a tough complex ... like passing stones in Celtic origins ... as the Scotts were considered scat in the English spin of tongues and linguistics gone wild ... an odd thing!

Who's rite is freemasonry? It depends ... or is still dependant on what you learned earlier and can't get your head around ...

And also remember the psyche is a dep niche ... Noche onus?

Is blind faith required for the fate of not differentiating criminal behaviour ... so the structure of precedent as criminal can't get their head around it as too hard for understanding from that point of view? --- Some Nadler guise ... not in the precedent-ya'll view ... deja vu?

Naivete as the adolescent behavior patterns on the stoop ... by folks old enough to know about what's being swapped ... and other sic concerns ...

Do mental consequences make Marx? ... not always so as to create Nous situations ... and powers despise certain nous! Rather it be indeterminate!

Moor to lear into ...

Imagine this processing thought:

How could the people (demos) talk about something that the executor wishes people de mos't not talk about ... thus silence ...

Is silence a big thing in polity or just in byzantine processes?

Thus the abstract BYZ ... Dark Buzz ...

Understand phonetics when dealing with black icons ... they are myriad and strange ...

Stoics do hate strange sounding words ...

Like strangers crossing the Hellespont! Euro Peons ...

I actually agree with PG-13. I too question the effectiveness of "Russian meddling via facebook accounts" for having any sort of statistically significant role in voting irregularities. For that, you need look no further than congressional "gerrymandering" of voting districts, unduly onerous ID laws and the vulnerability of electronic voting to fraud. Oh, and the wyrdness of the Electoral College, which, no matter what it was set up to accomplish, just does wyrd things.

Hi chansen,

It matters who informs the language we use. You admire Orwell and Churchill for their encouragement to brevity and simplicity. Orwell had a significant influence in my early years. Specially enjoyed “Down and Out in Paris and London”. Did appreciate the clarity of his language. Churchill was a brilliant orator. By a skillful employment of rhetoric he directed the fate of many lives.

My instructors in the use of language were mainly existentialist philosophers such as Martin Heidegger and Michel Foucault. These let me see that street level language is not useful when asking questions about truth. These questions assuming that truth defined is no longer truth itself.

I get it. Your style is different. Does that mean we can’t get along?

George

Looking around, I don't see WC2 as a big Heidegger and Foucault crowd.

I don't dislike you, I just can't understand a good chunk of what you write. That written, you have as much right to your writing style as Luce has to his. I just end up skipping a lot of both of your posts.

Who are Heidegger and Foucault?

That's ridiculously demonstrative of science in perspective ... a sin to stoics! Thus the absence of view ... and those that can't see it ...

Can't see what? The metasense of unseen as spoken of in the bible as a parallel to a prince in transparent robes ... actually Venus arising ... that spark that ignites the s'n of darkness ... an error to those wishing to leave the lights out! Like under the span in GEO Ghia ... archaine?

One song said there was a fan from a cotton Jenny tied around the sacrificed individuals neck! Thus blown fluff ... dark humus ... mar rows ?

Soldiers line up for miles to fall for it ... violence in action!

Consider British Ships of the Line laid out outside Ireland for the grounding of the Spanish Hand ... a'la Maine?

Word play soude ...

I think it did have a statistically significant role. It cemented right wing news followers into following only that...it changed people's capacity to respect proper journalism. At least a few members here believed the crap enough to be "red pilled" - they idolize Trump and still tow the Fox/ Breitbart line and take in all the ugly memes - and if they had been American they would have voted for him without question.

Putin is a master manipulator former KGB...Russia is pro at propaganda warfare. I'm not doubting much that they tried to sew chaos to get what they want in the US, covertly. The trolled the US (and rest of the world while they were at it) fiercely. At least they carried out propoganda warfare not hard warfare. That's the only bright side about it.

Today's events raise question about treason ... is the executive officer responsible for such actions? --- some underhanded god as hypo ...

There's a program about Trump on Netflix. What an ass. He has been consistent in his personality traits....
